We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Property Accountant to join our Charleston-based property management team. This is a senior-level individual contributor role responsible for the financial management of a portfolio that includes seven commercial properties and up to five residential rental properties.
In addition to managing your own portfolio, you will serve as a key quality-control resource for the accounting team by reviewing financial statements and approving bank reconciliations prepared by other staff members. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, deadline-driven, and experienced in multi-entity property accounting.
What You’ll Do
Portfolio Accounting
- Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial and residential properties
- Process accounts payable invoices with accurate GL coding
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and cash balancing
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and supporting documentation
- Prepare monthly owner statements and financial reporting packages
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Generate balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports for assigned properties
Accounting Review & Quality Control
- Review financial statements prepared by accounting staff for accuracy and compliance
- Approve bank reconciliations prior to finalization
- Identify discrepancies, procedural gaps, and opportunities for improvement
- Provide constructive feedback and support accounting best practices
- Assist with streamlining accounting workflows and reporting processes
Vendor & Owner Communication
- Coordinate and approve vendor payments
- Communicate with vendors regarding invoice questions and payment status
- Respond to owner inquiries related to financial reports and statements
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain organized accounting records and documentation
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and regulatory requirements
- Support annual audits and tax preparation in coordination with external CPAs and auditors
- Maintain confidentiality of financial, tenant, and owner information
- Assist with internal controls and audit preparation procedures
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or property accounting experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience managing accounting for multiple entities or properties simultaneously
- Strong understanding of:

- Ability to review work for accuracy and provide clear feedback
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
Preferred
- Experience with RealPage or similar property management/accounting software
- Commercial or multifamily property accounting experience
- Knowledge of CAM reconciliations
- Familiarity with owner reporting and property management operations
- Experience working with auditors and tax professionals
