Job Title: Maintenance Technician – 1st Shift
Job Description
This role supports a custom packaging manufacturing facility by maintaining and repairing food packaging equipment and building systems on 1st shift. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and HVAC issues, and keep production lines running safely and efficiently in a GMP environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform HVAC-related repairs and building maintenance, including replacing bulbs and addressing general facility maintenance needs.
- Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot food packaging machinery, including conveyors, pumps, motors, boilers, cappers, and labelers.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) on a weekly basis to minimize equipment downtime and extend asset life.
- Inspect, adjust, and repair mechanical components to ensure equipment operates safely and within specification.
- Use mechanical and electrical prints to identify issues, plan repairs, and verify proper installation of components.
- Troubleshoot issues with conveyors, pumps, and other food packaging machinery to quickly identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Perform minor welding on stainless and mild steel components as needed to support maintenance and repair activities.
- Work independently to prioritize tasks, respond to maintenance requests, and support production needs.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to address equipment problems and share knowledge on best maintenance practices.
- Follow GMP and safety procedures at all times, including safe lifting practices and proper use of tools and equipment.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- At least 3 years of experience troubleshooting conveyors, pumps, and food packaging machinery.
- At least 3 years of experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues independently.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical prints and schematics.
- Hands-on troubleshooting and repair skills for HVAC, mechanical, and industrial equipment.
- Capability to lift 75+ pounds safely as part of routine job duties.
- Solid math skills to support measurements, adjustments, and basic calculations related to maintenance work.
- Comfort working in a GMP environment and following established procedures and standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with minor welding on stainless and mild steel is beneficial but not strictly required.
- Experience in preventive maintenance programs and documentation.
- Familiarity with industrial troubleshooting methods and root cause analysis.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative maintenance team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing equipment issues.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Ixonia, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $83200.00/yr.
