Job Title: Maintenance Technician – All Shifts in Belen, NM

Job Description

This 1st shift Maintenance Technician role focuses on ensuring reliable operation of production machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will monitor and adjust machines, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and keep equipment and work areas in excellent condition while following established safety and 5S standards.

Responsibilities

• Monitor production machine operation throughout the shift to identify malfunctions, unusual noises, or performance issues.
• Adjust machines to proper, documented specifications to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance in accordance with the maintenance plan to minimize unplanned downtime.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and industrial systems to restore equipment to proper working condition.
• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine system functions and troubleshoot issues.
• Complete work orders accurately, including documenting repairs performed, parts used, and hours worked per job.
• Prepare clear reports and maintenance records using typical office software for communication and documentation.
• Use computer-based tools and software to support troubleshooting, documentation, and communication of maintenance activities.
• Perform PLC and mechanical troubleshooting to identify root causes of machine failures and implement effective solutions.
• Maintain the workshop and production areas in a clean, organized manner in accordance with 5S principles.
• Keep tools, shop equipment, and maintenance supplies clean, organized, and in good working order.
• Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including for specialized tasks and when suited up in production areas.
• Collaborate with production workers and other team members to support efficient machine changeovers, repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply basic math skills to measure, calculate, and verify settings, tolerances, and component dimensions.
• Safely lift and move items weighing up to 30–50 pounds as part of routine maintenance and repair tasks.
• Work on your feet for an 8-hour shift in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment while maintaining a high level of focus and quality.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proficiency in mechanical troubleshooting and machine repair.
• Experience with industrial maintenance, including repair of production machinery and supporting systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Demonstrated skill in electrical troubleshooting within an industrial setting.
• Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatic systems and their maintenance.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs and adherence to scheduled maintenance plans.
• Capability to perform PLC troubleshooting to support diagnosis of control-related issues.
• Basic computer skills, including use of typical office software for communication and documentation.
• Ability to stand and work on your feet for an 8-hour shift in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfort with fast-paced, repetitive work while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to safely lift and handle items weighing up to 30–50 pounds.
• Strong basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and verification of machine settings.
• Consistent use of appropriate PPE and adherence to safety procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Two years of applicable trade school or college education, five years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working closely with production workers and cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with 5S principles and experience maintaining clean, organized workspaces.
• Comfort working in a hands-on, fast-paced industrial setting that requires frequent machine interaction and physical activity.
• Ability to prepare clear written reports, work instructions, and maintenance documentation.
• Willingness to suit up in production areas as required for specific processes or environments.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility operating on a Monday–Friday schedule during 1st, 2nd and 3rd Shift. The work is fast paced and repetitive, with frequent interaction with production machinery and equipment. You will stand for most of your 8-hour shift and regularly lift items weighing up to 30–50 pounds. The environment follows 5S and safety principles, requiring consistent use of personal protective equipment. You must wear steel-toe or composite-toe shoes during the shift and for the interview. Certain production areas require you to suit up in designated attire for safety and process control. You will use a combination of hand tools, shop equipment, and computer-based software tools to perform maintenance, document work, and communicate with team members.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belen, NM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
