Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Python Developer to write, test, and document high-quality technical work products and raise the quality and craftsmanship of products and systems. This role designs self-contained systems within a team's domain, leads implementation of significant capabilities, and coaches team members on reliability, resiliency, security, and performance. This is a hybrid position with onsite presence required.
Key Responsibilities
· Write, test, and document technical work products (code, scripts, processes) according to organizational standards
· Devote time to raising the quality and craftsmanship of products and systems
· Conduct root cause analysis to identify domain-level problems and prescribe mitigating action items
· Design self-contained systems within a team's domain and lead implementation of significant capabilities in existing systems
· Coach team members on techniques to improve reliability, resiliency, security, and performance
· Decompose intricate, interconnected designs into implementations that less experienced engineers can build and maintain
· Anticipate trouble areas in systems under development and guide the team on instrumentation for observability and supportability
· Define test suites and instrumentation to ensure latency and availability targets are consistently met in production
· Lead by example in closing open vulnerabilities
· Evaluate potential attack surfaces in systems under development, identify mitigation best practices, and guide teams in implementing them
· Lead the team in identifying small batches of work that deliver the highest value quickly
· Ensure reuse is a first-class consideration in team implementations and advocate for broad reusability
· Formally mentor teammates and guide them along needed learning journeys
· Identify opportunities to introduce new approaches to problems
Required Qualifications
· Experience with HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Management, or Azure Key Vault
· Full software development life cycle (SDLC) experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications (front-end and back-end)
· Python experience with proficiency in FastAPI
· Experience with RESTful web services
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with React, TypeScript, and JavaScript
· Proficiency in object-oriented design techniques and principles
· Experience with Terraform and Vault
· Professional, design, and open-source experience
· Experience with Git and GitHub
· Experience working in Windows and Linux operating systems (cloud, midrange, distributed), including shell scripting
· Proficiency with database and persistence frameworks: PostgreSQL, object/relational mapping, and query performance tuning
· Proficiency with a cloud platform such as Azure
