Position Overview

Mason Technologies is seeking an experienced AV / Overhead Paging Systems Service Technician to join our growing service team. This position is ideal for a technician with a strong background in commercial audio, overhead paging, intercom, and voice communication systems, particularly in hospitals, healthcare facilities, schools, commercial buildings, and other large institutional environments.

The primary focus of this position is service, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of existing overhead paging and commercial audio systems. The ideal candidate will be comfortable responding to service calls, diagnosing system issues, tracing and testing cabling, troubleshooting amplifiers and controllers, repairing or replacing speakers and field devices, and identifying the source of audio or paging failures. Experience with Valcom, Rauland, Dukane, Bogen, AtlasIED, Algo, and other commercial paging and audio manufacturers is highly valued. This is a hands-on field service position. Candidates should be able to independently troubleshoot both the physical wiring and electronic equipment that make up a paging system. Experience servicing hospital or healthcare paging systems is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to service calls involving overhead paging, commercial audio, intercom, and voice communication systems
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot paging system failures, including dead zones, low audio, distorted audio, intermittent paging, communication failures, and speaker issues
  • Troubleshoot and service paging amplifiers, controllers, zone modules, power supplies, microphones, speakers, and related equipment
  • Trace, test, and troubleshoot low-voltage audio and paging cabling
  • Troubleshoot individual paging zones and identify faults within system infrastructure
  • Install, replace, terminate, and repair ceiling speakers, wall speakers, horns, volume controls, microphones, and other paging devices
  • Troubleshoot and service analog and IP-based paging systems
  • Work with centralized and zoned overhead paging systems
  • Diagnose issues involving audio distribution, amplifiers, speaker circuits, and zone control
  • Perform point-to-point testing and use test equipment to isolate system faults
  • Read and interpret audio system drawings, riser diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation
  • Perform equipment replacement, upgrades, and minor system modifications as required
  • Assist with system commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting during installations and upgrades
  • Document service findings, repairs, equipment replacements, and recommendations
  • Communicate effectively with customers, facility personnel, Project Managers, and other technicians
  • Work in active hospital and healthcare environments while following facility-specific procedures and requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Follow all company and job-site safety requirements
  • Travel between customer and project sites throughout the Tri-State Area as required

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on commercial AV, audio, paging, or low-voltage service experience preferred
  • Strong hands-on experience with overhead paging and commercial audio systems
  • Hospital, healthcare, institutional, or large commercial paging system experience strongly preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting existing systems rather than solely performing new installations
  • Experience with manufacturers such as Valcom, Rauland, Dukane, Bogen, AtlasIED, Algo, or comparable paging/audio systems
  • Experience troubleshooting:
  • Paging Amplifiers
  • Zone Controllers / Zone Modules
  • Ceiling and Wall Speakers
  • Paging Horns
  • Volume Controls
  • Microphones
  • Audio Distribution Equipment
  • Power Supplies
  • Analog and IP Paging Systems
  • Ability to trace and troubleshoot low-voltage audio and paging wiring
  • Ability to use a multimeter, tone generator, cable tester, and other electrical/audio test equipment
  • Ability to read and understand audio drawings, riser diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation
  • Basic understanding of audio signal flow, impedance, speaker circuits, amplifiers, and distributed audio systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work independently and respond professionally to customer service calls
  • Strong communication skills and customer-service orientation
  • OSHA and SST certifications required
  • Reliable personal vehicle required
  • Ability and willingness to travel to multiple customer and project sites throughout the Tri-State Area
  • Ability to work safely on ladders, lifts, and in active commercial environments
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
