Compensation:

Base: $105,000 - $115,000

Vehicle Stipend: Starting at $1,500 per month

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid)

Position Overview


The School Security Director is responsible for leading, managing, and enhancing all safety and security operations across K–12 educational environments. This role ensures compliance with state regulations, oversees training and certification programs, and provides strategic leadership for school safety initiatives. The Director serves as the primary authority for security personnel, emergency preparedness, threat response, and client-facing safety program management.


Duties:

  • Oversee daily school security operations and personnel.
  • Lead emergency preparedness, drills, and active threat response programs.
  • Maintain compliance with state laws, district policies, and contract requirements.
  • Manage training programs, certifications, and instructor development.
  • Serve as primary liaison with school administrators, law enforcement, and community partners.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident reviews.
  • Oversee documentation, reporting, and grant‑funded program activities.


Mandatory Qualifications:


  • School Security Operations: Demonstrated experience performing or managing safety and security operations within a K–12 school environment.
  • Management Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role overseeing personnel, operations, or training.
  • Training Readiness: Must be willing and eligible to immediately complete all required state and program‑specific training and certifications


Highly Preferred Qualifications:


  • NASRO Certification: Credentialed through the National Association of School Resource Officers.
  • Training Center Director: Qualified to serve as the designated director for the organization’s instructor cadre.
  • Pennsylvania Act 67 Instructor: Certified to train school security personnel, supporting client compliance with state‑certified vendor requirements.
  • Active Threat Program Lead: Instructor‑level mastery in the following programs:
  • ALICE
  • AVERT
  • “I Love U Guys” Foundation (SRP/SRM protocols)
  • De‑escalation Specialist: Certified MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) instructor.
  • Firearms Instruction: NRA Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor certification.
  • Grant Oversight: Ability to serve as Workforce Development Grant Director for state‑level training initiatives.


Desired Secondary Qualifications:


  • Advanced Safety Training: Experience with Student Assistance Program (SAP) processes or Behavioral Threat Assessment protocols.
  • Security Management: ASIS Associate Protection Professional (APP) certification or progress toward completion.
