We’re expanding our team and looking for driven professionals who want to build impactful solutions in a collaborative, high-growth environment.

\n

\n

Lead Infrastructure Engineer - Hardware and Systems Engineer

\n

5 days a week on site, in Jersey City OR Houston TX

\n

12 months Contract

\n

Pay $70 to 80/hr

\n

\n

From speaking with the hiring manager this should be the focus of what we are looking for.

\n

\n

1. Hands-on Linux and driver expertise (top priority) All tooling runs on Linux: performance benchmarking, automation and the racks. Admin basics such as file systems and services are not enough. We need engineers who can: • handle new hardware whose driver is not in the OS: inject the driver, work around the gap and follow the right process. • work in an in-memory OS. Racks boot an image and roughly 95% of work happens off the physical layer. • load and unload drivers without rebooting, and install RPMs on a running in-memory system.

\n

\n

2. Scripting and automation • Comfortable with Bash (required). • At least basic Python; strong Python is ideal. Automation is not overly complex, but a solid Python engineer adds value.

\n

\n

3. Strong hardware engineering knowledge Deep server hardware knowledge, especially for the ODM program now moving forward.

\n

\n

Nice to have

\n

    \n
  • OpenBMC and Redfish: Configuring OpenBMC, using Redfish and knowing OpenBMC standards. ODMs ship with OpenBMC, which differs from HPE iLO and Dell iDRAC.
  • \n

  • AMI BIOS: All team BIOS is American Megatrends (AMI).
  • \n

  • ODM platform experience: Gigabyte, MiTAC, Sanmina or Wistron, or similar open-platform work. OpenBMC plus AMI experience on other ODMs also qualifies.
  • \n

\n

\n

    \n
  • Join a high-performing team delivering infrastructure and performance excellence at one of the world's largest and most influential companies. As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer within Infrastructure Platforms, you'll apply deep knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline, continually growing your technical and cross-functional expertise.
  • \n

  • We are seeking a Hardware Engineer for end-to-end design of hardware platforms supporting our internal cloud environments. This role blends deep mechanical engineering fundamentals with strong program execution and vendor partnership. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable modeling and testing as they are coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, managing schedules and risk, and handling chassis integration details. If you enjoy turning complex, multi-constraint problems into practical, high-quality hardware designs, this role is for you.
  • \n

\n

Job Responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Partner with lines of business to capture requirements and translate them into end-to-end system designs. Drive continuous improvement by redesigning or replacing components that fall short of performance, reliability, or cost targets, and plan and execute the retirement of legacy platforms. Leverage working knowledge of board, server, and rack architectures with a strong understanding of datacenter integration. Support the full lifecycle, from prototype builds and lab validation through production release.
  • \n

  • Own day-to-day engagement with OEM, ODM, and JDM partners, ensuring tight technical alignment and proactive escalation management. Define milestones, acceptance criteria, and delivery expectations, and hold suppliers accountable for schedule, quality, and delivery commitments across the board and server development lifecycle.
  • \n

  • Act as the technical bridge between requirements and shipped solutions across hardware and software stakeholders. Communicate fluently at the hardware layer, including PCIe topology and airflow and liquid-cooling dynamics, and connect design decisions and tradeoffs to network, operating system, and application requirements.
  • \n

  • Use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate infrastructure analysis and design documentation, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
  • \n

  • Apply reuse-first, AI-assisted practices within delivery and automation routines to identify recurring issues and validate remediation options, ensuring changes are traceable, auditable, and aligned to resiliency and security expectations.
  • \n

\n

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

\n

    \n
  • 5+ years building and improving hardware products, with a mechanical or electrical engineering background.
  • \n

  • Strong experience partnering with OEM, ODM, and JDM manufacturers across design, build, and delivery.
  • \n

  • Solid understanding of production rack environments spanning networking and compute hardware, plus power delivery and cooling behavior, with the ability to apply thermodynamics in a datacenter context and confidently represent engineering positions in supplier design reviews.
  • \n

  • Working knowledge of Open Compute and rack standards tied to heat rejection and voltage delivery.
  • \n

  • Familiarity with PCIe, Redfish, and OpenBMC.
  • \n

  • Hands-on Linux (Red Hat) server experience, along with Python or strong Bash scripting skills.
  • \n

  • Hands-on experience with the Llama API.
  • \n

  • Experience owning BOMs and serving as a day-to-day interface with hardware suppliers, aligning cross-functional stakeholders to drive decisions and execution.
  • \n

  • Self-directed, pragmatic, and comfortable diving into details, driven by engineering rigor, data-backed decisions, and continuous improvement.
  • \n

  • Experience using enterprise-authorized AI tools to support infrastructure engineering workflows, with disciplined validation practices and strong awareness of data sensitivity.
  • \n

  • Proven ability to review AI-assisted outputs before implementation, escalate uncertainty appropriately, and ensure outcomes meet resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
  • \n

\n

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

\n

    \n
  • Good knowledge of hardware specs. Experience with cloud infrastructure built on physical servers. Experience building automation and certifying servers for internal cloud environments.
  • \n
