Job Summary
You will own the Federal-Grade Platform Hardening program and federal-and-defense compliance work across Knightscope's product portfolio. This role sits in the centralized Engineering Services function, distinct from the Wave 1 Security and Compliance Engineer who owns SOC 2, SSO, and facial-recognition compliance. Federal compliance timelines are measured in quarters and years, and you will build the foundation Knightscope needs to compete for government and defense customer segments.

You will own the Federal-Grade Platform Hardening program and federal-and-defense compliance work across Knightscope's product portfolio. This role sits in the centralized Engineering Services function, distinct from the Wave 1 Security and Compliance Engineer who owns SOC 2, SSO, and facial-recognition compliance. Federal compliance timelines are measured in quarters and years, and you will build the foundation Knightscope needs to compete for government and defense customer segments.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the Federal-Grade Platform Hardening program end to end.
- Own federal and defense compliance engineering across the Knightscope portfolio.
- Assess platform posture against FedRAMP, CMMC, ITAR-adjacent, and comparable federal frameworks.
- Partner with the Wave 1 Security and Compliance Engineer on scope boundary and evidence sharing.
- Partner with DevOps and Platform to bake federal-grade controls into shared platform baselines.
- Build the certification roadmap for the first target federal framework.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years in security or compliance engineering.
- Hands-on federal framework experience: FedRAMP, CMMC, ITAR-adjacent, or DoD assessment frameworks.
- Track record delivering platform hardening programs against federal requirements.
- Strong written communication for compliance evidence, POA&Ms, and audit response.
- Comfort operating across multiple product teams simultaneously.
Nice to Have
- Prior FedRAMP Moderate or High authorization program experience.
- Government contractor or defense industrial base background.
- Physical security or robotics product federal compliance context.
Compensation and Benefits
Base Salary: $170,000 to $200,000 (DOE)
