Job Description

The Maintenance Technician leads preventive and predictive maintenance programs to keep bakery production equipment operating at peak performance. This role oversees high-speed packaging lines, mechanical systems, and robotic arms, ensuring they run reliably and efficiently. The technician troubleshoots and resolves complex equipment issues, collaborates with OEMs for specialized maintenance, and monitors key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement. The position supports a collaborative work environment focused on zero loss and strong employee involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead preventive and predictive maintenance activities to maximize reliability and performance of bakery equipment.
  • Oversee maintenance of high-speed packaging lines, mechanical systems, and robotic arms to ensure consistent and efficient operation.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair on production and packaging equipment, including motors and pneumatic systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve PLC-related issues, including troubleshooting and repair of control systems.
  • Coordinate with OEMs and external service providers for specialized maintenance and technical support when required.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators such as equipment uptime, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Support and promote a collaborative work environment that emphasizes zero loss, safety, and employee involvement.
  • Apply GMP and industrial maintenance best practices to ensure equipment is maintained to quality and safety standards.
  • Use maintenance knowledge to supervise or guide maintenance activities when needed to ensure timely completion of work.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with electrical, mechanical, and automated systems, particularly in high-speed packaging environments.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with PLC troubleshooting and repair, including systems associated with FANUC, KUKA, ABB, or Universal Robots.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Hands-on experience with motors, pneumatics, and industrial mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment.
  • Experience working in an industrial environment with GMP standards.
  • Background as a maintenance technician or maintenance mechanic in a production setting.
  • Ability to interpret equipment performance data and KPIs such as uptime, MTBF, and MTTR.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to travel to Canada for additional training.
  • Experience using CMMS or EAM software to schedule, track, and complete maintenance work orders.
  • Experience supervising or leading maintenance activities.
  • Familiarity with robotic systems such as FANUC, KUKA, ABB, or Universal Robots.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with OEM technicians and internal teams.

Work Environment

This role is based in a bakery production facility with high-speed packaging lines, mechanical systems, and robotic arms. The position operates on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM, supporting around-the-clock production. The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on safety, GMP standards, and reliable equipment performance. Maintenance work involves regular interaction with electrical panels, PLCs, motors, and pneumatic systems, as well as the use of tools and diagnostic equipment appropriate for mechanical and electrical repair.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Oak Creek, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

Performance Bonuses $5,000 sign on bonus paid out monthly 5% performance annual incentive bonus (based on company performance, department performance, and individual goals) 3 weeks of vacation
