We are seeking a hands-on Senior Quantitative Software Engineer to support a major Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB) Internal Models Approach (IMA) program for a leading global financial institution. This is a production engineering role with a strong quantitative and market risk analytics focus not a pure research Quant or model development position.
\n
\n
The role sits at the intersection of Quantitative Strats, Market Risk, and Software Engineering. We welcome experienced Quant Developers, Quantitative Engineers, and Software Engineers who have implemented financial analytics, risk calculations, or quantitative data processing solutions. Direct FRTB IMA experience is highly valued, but strong Market Risk or Capital Markets quantitative engineering experience with the ability to learn FRTB is equally relevant.

The work spans enhancements to an existing enterprise Market Risk platform supporting Rates and Credit, as well as development on newer strategic infrastructure with a significant focus on Equity related implementation. Candidates may specialize in Python OR Java, deep expertise in both is not required.
\n
\n
The successful candidate will partner with Front Office, Market Risk, Quant, and Engineering teams to understand quantitative methodologies, challenge and clarify analytical requirements, and translate them into robust, tested, production-quality software.
\n
\n
Key Responsibilities:
\n
- \n
- Design, develop, test, and deliver production-quality quantitative engineering solutions supporting FRTB IMA regulatory and market risk requirements.
- Partner with Quant Strats, Market Risk, Front Office, and Engineering teams to translate risk methodologies, analytical specifications, and regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Enhance existing Market Risk Suite (MRS) capabilities supporting Rates and Credit, including market data enrichment, risk calculations, and eligibility testing.
- Build new analytics and risk-processing capabilities on strategic infrastructure, with Equity population and implementation efforts as a major focus.
- Implement and support market risk analytics, including risk-factor data processing, FRTB IMA Risk Factor Eligibility Testing (RFET), time-series analysis, and related validation processes where applicable.
- Analyze market and risk-factor datasets; validate risk calculations, reconcile results to quantitative benchmarks, investigate discrepancies, and strengthen automated analytical testing.
- Contribute to quantitative design reviews, methodology discussions, testing strategy, and problem-solving sessions with Quant and Engineering stakeholders.
- Reverse engineer and enhance complex enterprise and legacy systems where formal documentation or requirements may be limited.
- Develop integration components connecting legacy and strategic platforms, including data flows, workflow orchestration, and risk-process connectivity.
- Apply strong software engineering practices including automated testing, code reviews, documentation, version control, production validation, and support.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements and take ownership from initial analysis through production delivery.
\n
\n

\n
Required Skills and Experience:
\n
- \n
- 6+ years of hands-on quantitative software engineering, quantitative development, market risk technology, or closely related production engineering experience in complex financial environments.
- Strong hands-on development expertise in Python OR Java; deep expertise in both languages is not required.
- Experience implementing, enhancing, testing, and supporting production-grade quantitative analytics, financial calculations, market-risk applications, or risk-processing platforms.
- Experience in Capital Markets, Market Risk, Risk Technology, quantitative engineering, or a closely related financial-services environment, with practical exposure to financial products or risk analytics.
- Strong analytical and numerical problem-solving skills, including experience with financial time-series or market/risk datasets, calculation validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to collaborate with Quant, Market Risk, Front Office, and Engineering stakeholders and convert quantitative methodologies or loosely defined analytical requirements into reliable production software.
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Preferred Qualifications:
\n
- \n
- Direct hands-on experience delivering FRTB IMA technology or analytics solutions is highly preferred.
- Experience implementing or supporting Risk Factor Eligibility Testing (RFET), FRTB market-risk analytics, or related regulatory risk capabilities.
- Experience with enterprise Market Risk platforms, internal risk engines, regulatory capital technology, VaR, sensitivities, or other market-risk analytics.
- Knowledge of regulatory capital calculations, risk factor modelling, quantitative risk methodologies, risk model validation, or related Market Risk techniques.
- Experience implementing or validating analytics on large-scale financial time-series, risk-factor, or market-data datasets.
- Experience with market data sourcing, enrichment, risk factor data management, or Bloomberg data integration.
- Knowledge of Rates, Credit, and/or Equity products and associated market-risk analytics.
