Electrical / Mechanical Automation Engineer
We are partnering with an established and innovative manufacturing company seeking a hands-on Electrical / Mechanical Automation Engineer to join its growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys designing, building, troubleshooting, and improving custom automated machinery from concept through startup.
The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working with electrical controls, PLCs, mechanical systems, automation, and machine integration in a collaborative engineering environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and improve custom automated machinery and manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and automation systems.
- Program, troubleshoot, and support PLC-controlled equipment.
- Integrate motors, sensors, drives, HMIs, vision systems, and other automation components.
- Support machine startup, testing, commissioning, and debugging.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Analyze equipment performance and implement process improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams throughout the machine design and build process.
- Assist with machine assembly, wiring, and system integration as needed.
- Provide technical support during equipment installation and customer troubleshooting.
- Maintain quality, safety, and engineering standards throughout all phases of a project.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience with industrial automation, controls engineering, machine building, or custom machinery.
- Working knowledge of PLCs and industrial control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills involving electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with HMIs, robotics, motion control, vision systems, industrial networking, or CAD software is a plus.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering and manufacturing teams.
