Job Description
Job DescriptionRole Summary
Designs, implements, and optimizes highly available, secure, multi-cloud network infrastructure spanning AWS and Azure, with hybrid connectivity into on-premises County data centers. Owns the architecture, resiliency design, and traffic engineering for enterprise-scale cloud networking — this is infrastructure-architecture work, not application development.
Core Responsibilities
-
Design and manage network infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments, including multi-region and multi-Availability Zone deployments
-
Architect highly available, fault-tolerant network designs with resiliency patterns and automated failover
-
Implement hybrid cloud connectivity using AWS Transit Gateway and Azure ExpressRoute
-
Provision and manage Megaport Virtual Cross Connects (VXCs) for private cloud-to-on-prem connectivity
-
Manage traffic engineering: ingress/egress routing, path optimization, high-availability network design
-
Deploy and manage cloud-native and F5-based load balancing (AWS ELB, Azure Load Balancer/App Gateway, F5 LTM/GTM)
-
Deploy and manage virtual firewalls and NVAs (Palo Alto VM-Series, Cisco CSR 8000v) alongside native cloud security controls
-
Design VPC/VNet peering, hybrid connectivity, and multi-cloud architectures
-
Configure and manage BGP across cloud, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments
-
Apply cloud network security principles: Security Groups, NSGs, NACLs, segmentation, compliance alignment
RequirementsSkills Required
-
AWS and Azure networking services (Transit Gateway, ExpressRoute, VPC/VNet)
-
Megaport services and VXC provisioning
-
F5 VIPRION LTM/GTM or equivalent cloud-native load balancing
-
Network Virtual Appliances: Palo Alto VM-Series, Cisco CSR 8000v
-
BGP configuration in hybrid/multi-cloud environments
-
Cloud security constructs (Security Groups, NSGs, NACLs)
-
Storage architecture across multi-vendor and multi-cloud platforms (Dell PowerMax, NetApp, Pure Storage — for storage-architect variants)
Experience Required
-
6+ years designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based network infrastructure (AWS and Azure)
-
4+ years designing highly available/resilient cloud network architectures, including DR and failover
-
4+ years hands-on with AWS/Azure networking services: Transit Gateway, ExpressRoute, load balancing, hybrid connectivity
-
4+ years with Megaport services (VXC provisioning, hybrid/multi-cloud networking)
-
4+ years in traffic engineering, network segmentation, and firewall deployment (native + NVA)
Education / Training
-
Bachelor's degree in an IT-related or Engineering field (or equivalent experience, year-for-year)
-
At least one of: AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate
