Summary
\n
The Project & Development Assistant to the Chief Development Officer (“CDO”) is a high-impact role supporting the CDO and development team in advancing the organization’s national real estate development, management, preservation, and strategic growth objectives.
\n
\n
This position combines executive-level administrative support, project management, relationship coordination, research, due diligence, and operational leadership. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted partner to the CDO, ensuring that priorities move forward efficiently, key relationships are professionally managed, deadlines are met, and the development functions flow and operate as designed with exceptional organization, consistency, continuity, clarity, and follow-through.

The ideal candidate must be professional, highly organized, initiative-taking, discreet, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. The candidate must anticipate needs, manage competing priorities, bring structure to complex initiatives, and confidently coordinate with the CDO and other executive leadership, lenders, attorneys, investors, general contractors, architects, engineers, federal state, county, city agencies, and community partners, and internal teams.

Job Qualifications
\n
· Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
\n
· 2-4 years of experience in accounting, legal, nonprofit administration, project management support role in real estate development, property management, business operations, or related field.
\n
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, Smart Sheets, Power Point, and other database systems is highly desirable.
\n
· Demonstrated administrative and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, infusing efficiency with timelines and deliverables.
\n
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
\n
· Exceptional organizational skills and diligence.
\n

\n
Executive Administrative Duties and Support
\n
· Serve as a trusted strategic and administrative partner to the CDO.
\n
· Manage a complex calendar, including internal and external communications, meetings, speaking opportunities, and strategic priorities.
\n
· Prepare the CDO for meetings by assembling agendas, briefing materials, background information, talking points, and follow-up items.
\n
· Manage correspondence and communications on behalf of the CDO, exercising sound judgment regarding priorities, confidentiality, and responsiveness.
\n
· Coordinate travel, itineraries, and expense reports.
\n
· Track commitments, action items, progress trackers, and follow-ups arising from meetings and ensure timely completion.
\n
· Anticipate the CDO's needs and proactively identify issues, conflicts, and opportunities requiring attention.
\n
· Serve as a professional and highly responsive point of contact for internal and external staff, colleagues, and clients.
\n
· Manage and coordinate high-priority projects on behalf of the CDO, from initial planning through completion.
\n
· Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, deliverables, and accountability structures.
\n
· Track multiple workstreams simultaneously and ensure that responsible parties remain aligned with deadlines and expectations.
\n
· Coordinate across Development, Accounting, Property Management, Compliance, Construction, Maintenance, Government Affairs, and Executive Leadership.
\n
· Prepare project updates, dashboards, presentations, briefing documents, and status reports for senior staff.
\n
· Identify potential obstacles or delays and proactively recommend solutions.
\n
· Help translate and communicate the CDO's strategic priorities into clear, concise work plans and measurable outcomes.
\n
· Maintain visibility into major projects such as renovations, new construction, underwriting, real estate closings, and other funding relationships and related activities.
\n
· Coordinate information and deliverables across internal teams for proposals, reports, and other development initiatives.
\n
· Establish systems that improve visibility, accountability, and execution across the CDO's portfolio.
\n
· Maintain action-item trackers, project calendars, meeting schedules, and strategic planning materials.
\n
· Represent the Development team functions with professionalism and responsiveness throughout the organization.
\n
· Promote effective communication and collaboration across all departments and teams and organizational levels.
\n
· Experience in a nonprofit, affordable housing, community development, real estate development, or mission-driven organization is strongly preferred.
\n
· Brings structure, accountability, and momentum to complex initiatives.
\n
· Understands the broader organizational context and can distinguish urgent matters from those requiring strategic attention.
\n
· Communicates clearly, professionally, and appropriately with audiences.
\n
