Kable Workforce Solutions is hiring a Maintenance Technician II for our client. This job is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults on production and packaging equipment in a food manufacturing facility. Works independently to keep equipment running through the shift, perform changeovers, carry out preventive maintenance, and spot repeat failures that need a permanent fix. What’s a Typical Day Like?

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults on filling, sealing, labeling, case packing, palletizing, and conveying equipment.
  • Diagnose faults using equipment manuals, schematics, electrical prints, and machine fault codes instead of replacing parts by trial and error.
  • Replace bearings, gearboxes, drives, and seals using correct alignment, tensioning, and torque practices.
  • Perform changeovers and centerline setups to specification, and confirm the line runs at standard rate before releasing it.
  • Support clean in place, sanitation, and thermal processing equipment readiness as needed.
  • Carry out the preventive maintenance program and recommend changes to tasks or frequency based on failure history.
  • Keep accurate downtime and work order records so recurring problems can be identified.
  • Identify repeat failures and bring them forward with supporting history.
  • Take part in failure investigations with Operations, Quality, and Engineering.
  • Flag critical spare parts gaps, obsolete components, and parts quality issues to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Coach Technician I team members on technique, safety, and documentation.
  • Teach operators what to watch for on their equipment, what they can fix themselves, and when to call maintenance.
  • Provide clear shift handoffs on open issues, temporary repairs, and equipment being monitored.
  • Follow lockout/tagout, confined space, elevated work, GMP, allergen, and food safety requirements at all times.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned.

What Are the Requirements of the Job?

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent experience including progression from Technician I.
  • Ability to troubleshoot independently and find the actual cause of a fault.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical schematics.
  • Working knowledge of power transmission, precision alignment, bearings, gearboxes, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety, motor starters, sensors, and basic variable frequency drive (VFD) function.
  • Experience using a maintenance management system for work orders, parts, and downtime.
  • Ability to work off shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins as required.
  • Food, beverage, dairy, or other regulated manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
  • Ability to read PLC fault messages and use an operator interface for diagnostics is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ammonia refrigeration and Process Safety Management (PSM) is a plus.
  • Technical certificate or completed apprenticeship in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related trade is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. Team lift required above 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, squat, kneel, and reach above shoulder on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work around moving equipment, wet and slippery surfaces, cleaning chemicals, loud noise, and refrigerated or mixed temperature areas.
  • Ability to work at elevation and in confined spaces, and to follow required personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
