Job DescriptionJunior Automation TechnicianFull-time; on-call rotation required for nights and weekends as needed
A local manufacturing facility in Crossville is seeking a junior automation technician to support and improve automated systems in a fast-paced production environment. This is a great opportunity to grow your automation skills while working alongside experienced engineers and technicians.
Responsibilities
- Assist with designing, programming, building, and troubleshooting automation and control systems (PLCs, HMIs, motion controls, sensors, and drives)
- Support system integration, testing, and debugging to ensure reliable operation
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment and electrical systems throughout the facility
- Maintain and update control system documentation, manuals, and work instructions
- Assist with project planning, progress tracking, and communication
- Support preventative maintenance efforts to improve equipment reliability
- Follow all safety codes, standards, and regulations
- Participate in an on-call rotation for automation-related issues
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Associate's degree in controls engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of automation experience in a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with configuring drives (Siemens and Omron preferred)
- Ability to wear required PPE, including steel toe footwear
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
- Hands on experience building PLC and HMI software (from scratch and existing), Siemens, Omron, Ignition preferred
