Senior Project Manager - Civil Infrastructure | Austin, TX
Job Description
Job Description
Senior Project Manager - Civil Infrastructure | Austin, TX
Professional Engineer (PE) | Public Infrastructure | $150,000–$175,000+ DOE
Anchor Talent has partnered with a growing, multi-disciplinary Austin engineering firm to identify a Senior Project Manager / Engineer of Record to lead public infrastructure work across Central Texas. This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity with a clear path to further advancement. The current team leader is being promoted, creating a real seat at the table for the right person from day one.
Why this role:
This isn't a support-PM position. You'll own projects from pursuit through delivery, work directly with public-sector clients and senior firm leadership, and have real influence over how the team grows. If you're technically strong but have felt boxed out of true project ownership at a larger firm, this is built for you.
The Work:
Utility relocations, stormwater systems, roadway rehabilitation, and pedestrian infrastructure primarily upgrades and rehab within dense, developed right-of-way (not greenfield/land development). You'll navigate real urban constraints: permitting, utility conflicts, and multi-stakeholder coordination with municipalities and agencies like TxDOT.
What You'll Do
- Serve as Engineer of Record and lead technical delivery on public infrastructure projects
- Own client relationships and support business development, proposals, and pursuits
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budget with full accountability
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, EITs, and CAD staff
- Partner directly with firm leadership on strategy and team growth
- Lead QA/QC and peer review processes
What You Bring
- PE license (Texas, or ability to obtain within 3 months)
- 7+ years of civil engineering experience in public infrastructure (utilities, stormwater, roadway, or municipal work). Candidates with strong PM ownership at any experience level are encouraged to apply
- Demonstrated project leadership, budget, schedule, and client accountability
- Proficiency in Civil 3D; experience with StormCAD, CivilStorm, HEC-HMS, or HEC-RAS a plus
- Comfort operating in dense, highly developed urban environments
Compensation & Benefits
- $150,000–$175,000+ base, commensurate with experience
- Sign-on bonus available
- 100% employer-paid medical/dental/vision
- 401(k) match
- PE license renewal, professional membership (ASCE, TSPE) covered
- Professional development support and reimbursement
Location: Austin, TX - hybrid schedule after initial 90-day onboarding period
