SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for cleaning the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF). Areas include interior production within the facility, exterior grounds, and administrative/ interior areas of the facility. This includes cleaning and removal of accumulated debris from production equipment such as balers and other work platforms. This position also includes snow removal duties as weather permits. Work hours will be Monday through Friday with overtime and Saturday’s scheduled as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sweep, shovel and dispense of debris from the following interior and exterior areas of the facility:
- Production area
- Baling area
- Loading dock area
- Tipping floor access area
- Residue compaction areas
- Facility Walkways
- Processing equipment
- Use tools to carefully clean and dust debris from overhead structures and equipment such as:
- Ceiling purlins
- Wall Girts
- Fire suppression sprinkler heads
- HVAC Ducts
- Lighting fixtures
- Machine support I-beams
- Collect and dispose of windblown litter and other objects from the pavement, grass and other areas using rakes and other implements.
- Regular cleaning duties such as sweeping, washing floors, tables and countertops, empty waste receptacles, clean windows, restock paper products
- Manually sort inbound recyclables by designated material category.
- Perform quality control measures to remove contaminants from baled materials.

- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Continually required to stand for extended periods of time.
- Frequently required to walk throughout the facility and work areas.
- Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
- Continually works in close proximity to moving mechanical parts.
- Frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and potentially hazardous chemicals.
- Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens, airborne pathogens, or other potentially infectious materials.
- Work environment is consistently very loud, requiring appropriate hearing protection.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Performs duties in industrial and manufacturing environments, as well as outdoors, with exposure to dust, odors, rodents, insects, and various waste materials associated with the recycling industry.
