Job Description
This role is a master-level maintenance mechanic position on the 2nd shift in a high-volume production facility. You will focus primarily on mechanical troubleshooting and repair of production and packaging equipment, ensuring reliable operation of mixers, motors, pumps, conveyors, and related systems. The role is heavily hands-on and centers on reactive maintenance, working closely with the lead mechanic to prioritize tasks and support capital projects when needed.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components across the production facility.
- Diagnose and repair mixers, motors, conveyors, and related processing equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair gearboxes and hydraulic pumps to maintain optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot palletizers, shrink wrappers, and other packaging equipment to minimize downtime.
- Diagnose and repair pneumatic components used in production and packaging systems.
- Perform mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting tasks for pumps and other mechanical systems.
- Use and interpret blueprints and schematics to identify issues and plan repairs.
- Support capital expenditure (CapEx) projects as needed, including installation and modification of equipment.
- Perform primarily reactive maintenance, working with the lead mechanic to determine and prioritize daily tasks.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities when required to reduce future equipment failures.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with facility procedures and PPE requirements.
- Maintain and use personal tools effectively to perform mechanical repairs and maintenance.
Essential Skills
- At least 7 years of industrial maintenance experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting skills, including pumps, motors, conveyors, and mixers.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hydraulic systems and hydraulic pumps.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic components.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair packaging equipment such as palletizers and shrink wrappers.
- Ability to read, understand, and utilize blueprints and schematics for mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance practices in an industrial setting.
- Capability to perform welding tasks as part of mechanical repair and maintenance work.
- Ownership and effective use of personal tools required for mechanical maintenance.
- Comfort spending the majority of working time (up to approximately 95%) on mechanical troubleshooting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a mixing environment or food manufacturing facility is beneficial.
- Familiarity with mechanical pumps and related industrial equipment.
- Experience working within a high-volume production or packaging environment.
- Ability to collaborate with leads and other team members to prioritize maintenance activities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on complex mechanical issues.

Work Environment
This role is on the 2nd shift, working Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with an expected schedule of approximately 40 to 48 hours per week. The work takes place in a production facility where the environment can include strong smells such as glue and paint. Electronics are not permitted on the production floor, and employees must follow safety protocols, including wearing steel-toe footwear and other required personal protective equipment (PPE). The setting is hands-on, industrial, and fast-paced, with regular interaction with mixers, pumps, conveyors, packaging equipment, and other mechanical systems.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
