Job Description
Job DescriptionRace Analytics Platform Engineer
Richard Childress Racing — Welcome, North Carolina — Full-time
Reports to the Director of Development and Innovation
The day-to-day
On any given race week, you turn raw signals into decisions. You pull telemetry and officiating data into reliable pipelines, shape it into models and services, and deliver fast internal tools our engineers depend on before the haulers leave. You inherit a living suite of applications, make it yours, and chart what gets built next.
Your impact
- Own the lifecycle of core internal apps: design, implement, deploy, monitor, evolve, and decommission when it’s time.
- Build and operate data pipelines that ingest, clean, and stage data for automated analysis and visualization.
- Deliver high-performance, full‑stack tools that are accurate, fast, and ready by race Friday.
- Run CI/CD with disciplined source control, automated tests, and reproducible deployments.
- Research and recommend software—and occasionally hardware—to meet project goals.
- Manage several efforts in parallel and communicate clear, honest timelines.
- Partner directly with technical leadership; you’ll have a direct line to the people setting the race team’s technical direction.
What you’ll bring
- BS in Computer Science and 3+ years building software (back‑end emphasis preferred).
- Ability to design complex, scalable systems and services.
- Fluency with REST APIs, SQL, and S3‑style object storage.
- Python required; Rust or C# is a plus. Comfortable moving across languages as needed.
- Experience with React (or a comparable modern front‑end framework) and practical UI/HCI sensibilities.
- Hands‑on with data/plotting libraries such as polars, matplotlib, plotly, d3 (or equivalents).
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative workflows.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication, and a self‑starter mindset grounded in research and analysis.
- Thrive in a fast‑paced, quality‑driven, collaborative environment. Microsoft Azure experience is a plus.
Bonus
Background with NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula 1, or other professional motorsports organizations.
