FIRE ALARM APPRENTICE
Company Profile: 1st Fire Protection Services, LLC is a privately-owned fire protection company that designs, fabricates, installs, maintains, and inspects fire protection systems in commercial & industrial buildings. We have offices located in San Antonio, Austin, McAllen, Waco, Houston, College Station, Lubbock, and Laredo.
Job Summary: We are looking for a Fire Alarm Apprentice to support licensed Fire Alarm Technicians in the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems. This entry-level position is designed for individuals seeking to gain hands-on experience and technical knowledge in the fire life safety industry while working toward required certifications and licensure.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with installation of fire alarm systems, including wiring, devices, control panels, and related equipment
- Support inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes
- Help troubleshoot and repair system components under supervision
- Pull wire, mount devices, install conduit, and label systems properly
- Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory in company vehicles
- Complete required documentation accurately and timely
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines
- Maintain a professional appearance and provide excellent customer service on job sites
- Participate in training programs and pursue required state certifications
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Interest in electrical systems, low-voltage wiring, or fire life safety systems
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams (preferred but not required)
- Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
- Ability to work in various environments (construction sites, commercial buildings, outdoors)
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work with hands for extended periods
