Job Description

Job Title: Facility Manager

Posting Location: Arlington, VA

Salary Range: $157,000 – $259,100 USD Annually

The Role

Hudson Talent Solutions is looking for an experienced Facility Manager to lead day-to-day operations at a site in Arlington, VA. You will own the site’s safety performance, operational results and team culture, working across maintenance, production and community relations to keep the facility running at its best. This is a high-visibility leadership role for someone who has run a plant before and wants real ownership over how it performs. This position provides significant exposure to senior leadership and enterprise-wide initiatives, making it an exceptional opportunity for a high-potential leader seeking broader operational and regional leadership responsibilities.

Why This Role Is Different

This facility is one of the company's flagship operations and plays a critical role within the broader organization. As a result, this position offers significant visibility with senior leadership and exposure to strategic initiatives spanning operations, maintenance, environmental compliance, safety, reliability, and asset management.

This role is often viewed as a developmental opportunity for future regional leadership positions, including potential progression into Area Operations Manager-level responsibilities for individuals who demonstrate exceptional performance.

What You Will Actually Do

  • Champion site safety by leading Health, Safety and Environmental programs that keep operations safe and environmentally responsible.
  • Own outage and maintenance planning, pulling in regional and corporate resources when needed to keep things running smoothly.
  • Drive site performance against business objectives and the Annual Operating Plan, keeping a close eye on cost control and asset management.
  • Build out long-term maintenance, staffing, operational and budget plans for the site.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that boost operational discipline, productivity, quality, reliability and employee engagement.
  • Bring Six Sigma and Lean thinking into plant improvement work, driving initiatives around inventory, capacity and growth.
  • Represent the company with local government, community groups and industry partners.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients to keep performance strong.
  • Develop the site leadership team, setting goals that support both personal growth and plant performance.
  • Champion programs around employee satisfaction, training, communication and process improvement.

Leadership Profile

We are seeking a highly engaged, hands-on leader with direct experience in waste-to-energy, power generation, or a similar industrial process environment. The successful candidate will possess a strong technical foundation in boilers, turbines, steam systems, maintenance and reliability programs, environmental compliance, and operational excellence.

This individual must be comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment, holding themselves and others accountable, and driving results through influence, collaboration, and decisive action. The ideal leader is visible within the facility, understands operational challenges firsthand, and proactively addresses issues before they impact plant performance.

The successful candidate will be a leader who balances accountability with relationship building. They are comfortable addressing difficult issues directly, driving organizational discipline, and partnering with regional and corporate subject matter experts to resolve challenges and improve plant performance. We are looking for someone who can be both diplomatic and assertive while maintaining a strong focus on execution and results.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in waste-to-energy, power generation, or heavy industrial operations, including responsibility for operations, maintenance, safety, environmental performance, and financial results.
  • Direct experience in waste-to-energy, power generation, combined cycle, cogeneration, biomass, pulp and paper recovery boilers, or other industrial steam generation environments strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading operations, maintenance, outage planning, reliability initiatives, environmental compliance programs, and continuous improvement efforts within a 24/7 industrial operation.
  • Strong understanding of boilers, turbines, steam systems, maintenance and reliability programs, environmental compliance, and operational excellence principles.
  • Proven experience managing plant performance against business objectives, budgets, and financial targets.
  • Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), or related continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams while maintaining accountability and operational discipline.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience partnering with corporate and regional technical resources to resolve complex operational challenges.
  • Previous leadership experience in a waste-to-energy facility is highly preferred; candidates from power generation, biomass, cogeneration, combined cycle, pulp and paper, or similar industrial process facilities will also be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.

This role is based on site and involves regular time on the plant floor, including using stairs, ladders and walkways, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, and wearing standard personal protective equipment around operating equipment.
