This role operates in a highly interactive environment, partnering daily with engineering, production, quality, and leadership to ensure work is completed in alignment with customer requirements, project objectives, and quality standards. It is well suited for an early-career engineer who wants broad exposure to aerospace projects, hands-on work in fabrication and electrical integration, and direct involvement in customer-facing technical activities.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical execution of assigned work scopes, ensuring alignment with aerospace customer requirements, project schedules, and quality expectations.
- Collaborate directly with customer technical teams, internal engineering staff, and electrical services personnel to define requirements, clarify scope, and support deliverables.
- Translate engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements into clear, actionable instructions for fabrication, assembly, installation, and production teams.
- Provide hands-on engineering support to production and electrical integration activities, including frequent interaction on the shop floor and project sites to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges during fabrication, assembly, installation, and testing, driving timely and practical solutions.
- Support project planning and execution activities, including development of work orders, material coordination, schedules, budgets, and execution tracking.
- Contribute to the development of inspection and test plans, build plans, installation plans, and production execution documentation.
- Review purchase orders, contracts, and change requests to ensure technical requirements and acceptance criteria are clearly defined and met.
- Partner cross-functionally with production, welders, quality, field personnel, and leadership to address risks, resolve issues, and maintain alignment across teams.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready documentation in compliance with AS9100 and internal quality standards.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with technical teams, skilled trades, and customer stakeholders to ensure shared understanding of project status and technical decisions.
- Operate with a high degree of ownership while working under general guidance, adapting to evolving project, customer, and business needs.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent combinations of education, technical training, certifications, and directly relevant industry experience may be considered.
- 2–4 years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, electrical integration, or technical project support role within aerospace, defense, industrial, or advanced manufacturing.
- Strong working knowledge of engineering drawings, fabrication, manufacturing, and electrical integration processes.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo.
- Experience with technical documentation, engineering reports, and controlled documentation environments.
- Familiarity with quality management systems such as AS9100 or ISO 9001.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work through technical challenges in fast-paced manufacturing and field-service environments.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work across technical teams, skilled trades, and customer stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfort working in office, production floor, and field or project site environments.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and engineering document control systems preferred.
- Knowledge of Department of Defense regulations, policies, and procedures associated with aerospace projects or sites highly preferred.
- Ability to operate with a high degree of ownership while working under general guidance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with the Department of Defense or on aerospace project sites preferred.
- Experience supporting projects that require cross-functional coordination between engineering, production, quality, and field or service teams.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certification is a plus.
- Adaptable and able to support evolving project, customer, and business needs.
- Comfortable engaging in both hands-on technical work and structured engineering documentation.
