Role Overview
The Sr. Platform Data Engineer will join the Digital Engineering organization to design, implement, and optimize enterprise database solutions that power digital applications and services. This role focuses on performance, scalability, and security — ensuring high availability and compliance while supporting strategic initiatives and enhancing member experiences.

Key Responsibilities
Architect, implement, and manage advanced cloud database platforms (Azure SQL, Microsoft SQL).
Optimize database performance, capacity, and reliability through monitoring and tuning.
Develop automation scripts/workflows to streamline database operations.
Design and enforce backup, disaster recovery, and data retention policies.
Implement encryption, security protocols, and regulatory compliance measures.
Collaborate with Agile teams, leveraging Liquibase for schema management.
Conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex database issues.
Prepare technical documentation and deliver clear communications to stakeholders.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to platform modernization initiatives.

✅ Required Skills & Experience
5–7 years in database engineering/administration.
Advanced expertise in Azure SQL, Microsoft SQL, and enterprise database platforms.
Strong background in performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
Hands‑on experience with automation scripting (PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
Knowledge of secure data practices, data governance, and regulatory frameworks.
Proven analytical/problem‑solving skills with advanced troubleshooting experience.
Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft® Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
Hands‑on experience with Liquibase for schema changes.
Background in platform engineering, infrastructure, cloud, or digital organizations.
Familiarity with application modernization and decommissioning programs.
Experience supporting risk, audit, cybersecurity, compliance, and regulatory initiatives.
