The Assistant Technician supports the installation, service, and maintenance of low-voltage systems, including access control, CCTV, fire alarm, and structured cabling. This role works alongside experienced technicians while developing technical skills and industry knowledge.
Skills and Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of low-voltage systems.
- Install and support structured cabling infrastructure.
- Complete site surveys and assist with project documentation.
- Organize and track project materials, tools, and equipment.
- Travel to customer and project sites as needed.
- Participate in the on-call rotation as required.
- Continuously develop knowledge of access control, CCTV, fire alarm, and related systems.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience with structured cabling or low-voltage systems preferred.
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and project documentation.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the low-voltage industry.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work on ladders and elevated surfaces.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, and use of power tools.
- Ability to work in both new construction and occupied building environments.
