Job Description
The Data Center Support Technician serves as the first responder for hardware and infrastructure alerts, incidents, and service requests in a fast-paced, mission-critical data center environment. This role focuses on rapid assessment, fault isolation, and troubleshooting of server, storage, and network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining high operational standards. The technician utilizes monitoring tools and ticketing systems to triage incidents, perform hardware diagnostics and break-fix activities, and escalate complex issues to appropriate engineering and vendor support teams while maintaining clear and accurate documentation throughout the incident lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of technical intervention for hardware and infrastructure alerts, incidents, and service requests in the data center.
- Perform initial fault isolation and root cause analysis of server, storage, and network-related issues to quickly identify and resolve problems.
- Diagnose hardware failures, including CPUs, memory modules, disk drives, power supplies, motherboards, and network components.
- Utilize data center management platforms, monitoring tools, and infrastructure systems to monitor alerts and identify potential issues.
- Respond quickly to critical alarms that may impact customer, production, or business operations, ensuring timely resolution or escalation.
- Investigate recurring incidents, identify patterns, and recommend corrective actions to improve stability and reduce future occurrences.
- Support operational readiness activities, including disaster recovery preparedness and execution as needed.
- Manage incidents through ticketing and incident management systems such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Remedy.
- Accurately document troubleshooting steps, repairs, root cause findings, and resolution details in ticketing and logging systems.
- Ensure all incidents meet established service level agreement (SLA) requirements and escalation timelines.
- Participate in shift handoff meetings and maintain clear, up-to-date operational logs for ongoing incidents and activities.
- Track server, storage, networking equipment, and spare-part inventory to ensure availability of required hardware.
- Maintain accurate hardware asset records, including equipment locations and status, to support asset tracking and audits.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams regarding warranty replacements, hardware returns, and repair activities.
- Support audits and inventory reconciliation activities to validate asset records and ensure compliance with internal processes.
- Provide high-quality customer service in a call center or support environment when interacting with internal stakeholders or external partners.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of incident triage, troubleshooting, and documentation processes within the data center.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of experience supporting data center operations, IT infrastructure, server hardware, or enterprise systems.
- Demonstrated experience performing hardware diagnostics and break-fix activities on servers, storage systems, and related components.
- Experience working with ticketing and incident management systems such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Remedy.
- Experience supporting mission-critical environments, with an understanding of high-availability and uptime requirements (preferred).
- Strong hardware troubleshooting skills across server, storage, and rack-level infrastructure.
- Basic networking knowledge, including familiarity with common network components and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Ability to monitor and interpret alerts generated by data center management platforms, monitoring tools, and infrastructure systems.
- Experience with incident triage, prioritization, and escalation based on severity and business impact.
- Proficiency in documenting troubleshooting steps, repairs, root cause analysis, and resolution details clearly and accurately.
- Experience with asset tracking and inventory management for server, storage, and networking hardware.
- Experience in call center or customer service environments, with the ability to manage incidents and communicate effectively.
- Familiarity with data center operations and processes, including incident management and operational logging.

- Experience in incident management systems and workflows, including escalation procedures and SLA adherence.
- Exposure to call center management practices and structured customer support processes.
- Data entry skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate records in ticketing and asset management systems.
- Ability to support operational readiness and disaster recovery activities within an enterprise infrastructure.
- Experience coordinating with vendors and internal technical teams for warranty replacements and hardware returns.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment where urgency and precision are essential.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple incidents, assets, and documentation requirements simultaneously.

This is a Contract position based out of Fremont, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
