VP of Infrastructure

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Vice President of Information Technology to lead the transformation, modernization, and operational excellence of our enterprise infrastructure environment. This remote leadership role will focus on improving infrastructure stability, scalability, security, and efficiency while building a high-performing technology organization.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technology leader who can drive infrastructure modernization, optimize processes, improve operational maturity, and establish a resilient, audit-ready technology foundation. This individual will work closely with executive leadership, business stakeholders, internal teams, and external partners to align infrastructure strategy with business objectives.

Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure Transformation & Operations\n

• Lead the modernization and transformation of enterprise infrastructure platforms, processes, and operational practices.

\n

• Drive improvements in system stability, scalability, performance, and reliability across infrastructure environments.

\n

• Establish operational standards focused on proactive monitoring, incident management, and production excellence.

\n

• Improve infrastructure efficiency by eliminating redundant tools, optimizing platforms, and reducing technical complexity.

\n

• Develop resilient infrastructure strategies to improve availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery capabilities.

\n

Leadership & Team Development\n

\n
• Build, mentor, and mature infrastructure teams by establishing clear processes, accountability, and operational best practices.

\n

• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement, and service excellence.

\n

• Provide hands-on technical leadership and support critical infrastructure initiatives when required.

\n

Cloud & Enterprise Architecture\n

\n
• Drive enterprise architecture improvements focused on stability, cost optimization, and scalability.

\n

• Lead cloud infrastructure initiatives, including Azure-based solutions and hybrid environments.

\n

• Evaluate and implement modern technologies to improve operational efficiency and business agility.

\n

• Establish standards for infrastructure design, deployment, and lifecycle management.

\n

Security, Compliance & Risk Management\n

\n
• Build and maintain a secure, audit-ready infrastructure environment.

\n

• Establish and enforce security policies, procedures, and technology standards.

\n

• Partner with security and compliance teams to support audits and regulatory requirements.

\n

• Ensure appropriate controls around access management, network security, firewalls, and infrastructure protection.

\n

• Support compliance frameworks such as SOC, NIST, HITRUST, or similar industry standards.

\n

Financial & Vendor Management\n

\n
• Own infrastructure budgeting, planning, and cost optimization initiatives.

\n

• Identify opportunities to reduce operational expenses while improving service quality.

\n

• Manage technology vendors and external partners to ensure successful project delivery, cost control, and performance accountability.

\n

Business Partnership & Communication\n

\n
• Partner with executive leadership and business stakeholders to understand technology needs and deliver strategic solutions.

\n

• Communicate infrastructure strategy, risks, investments, and operational performance effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.

\n

• Build trust through transparency, measurable outcomes, and strong operational governance.

\n

Required Qualifications\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

\n

• 8+ years of experience leading IT infrastructure, cloud operations, or enterprise technology functions.

\n

• Proven experience managing infrastructure transformation and modernization initiatives.

\n

• Experience leading technical teams in enterprise environments.

\n

• Strong experience with cloud technologies, preferably Microsoft Azure.

\n

• Experience with infrastructure operations, production support, and high-availability environments.

\n

• Knowledge of enterprise security architecture, access controls, network security, firewalls, and cloud/on-premises infrastructure.

\n

• Experience with IT audits, governance, policies, and compliance requirements.

\n

• Strong leadership, communication, vendor management, and stakeholder engagement skills.

\n

Preferred Qualifications\n

\n
• Experience in regulated industries.

\n

• Experience with SOC, NIST, HITRUST, or similar security/compliance frameworks.

\n

• Experience driving large-scale infrastructure optimization and operational maturity.

\n

• Strong understanding of modern cloud, automation, and enterprise infrastructure practices.

\n

This is a contract role with an hourly rate between $115-125/hr. \n
