Job Summary


The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing the works and coordinating to assigned APM Revamp projects, ensuring they are successfully completed on time and in accordance with required quality standards, as directed by Senior Project Manager and Project Manager in coordination with Vice President of Engineering.

The role involves close interfacing with the project staff and other concerned parties, coordinating and managing with various internal and external stakeholders, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and technical expertise to manage the technical aspects of the project, reviewing and developing technical documents.

And, besides APM Revamp projects, the Project Engineer may require supporting O&M activities of APM as needed as directed by Vice President of Engineering.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and control detailed project plans, schedules, and execution strategies in alignment with overall project objectives, scope, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Lead and execute engineering and project-related activities to ensure timely and successful achievement of project milestones and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager, MHI Engineering staff, suppliers, subcontractors, safety staff, and other project stakeholders to develop project schedules, change order documents, technical documents, and other related documents that are necessary for the projects.
  • Communicate with the client to maintain the customer relationship and smooth implementation of the project.
  • Provide internal and external project progress reports.
  • Conduct regular progress reviews with the project team, proactively identifying the technical, schedule and resource challenges and proposing practical solutions.
  • Develop, review, and approve engineering deliverables such as technical proposals, cost estimates, design calculations, drawings, design reports, and procurement specifications.
  • Perform design calculations and develop equipment/material specifications, work procedures, testing procedures, manuals and other required documents as necessary.
  • Perform design work using relevant computer/design software tools.
  • Coordinate and conduct site activities such as field surveys, installation, and testing.
  • Provide on-site coordination, installation supervision, and test & commissioning for assigned project tasks.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, perform root cause analysis, develop repair plans, and communicate plans to the project staff and O&M staff.
  • Coordinate with MHI Engineering staff and/or suppliers to resolve technical issues
  • Develop and/or update technical documents to reflect changes, supplement information as necessary.
  • Communicate recommended or mandated changes in procedures or maintenance activities due to the project to Site Managers and O&M staff. Identify the need for and facilitate additional training as procedures change.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours and availability to support critical project activities, site work, and schedule-driven requirements.


Required Qualifications

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be also considered.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Project Engineer role, such as Engineering Project Manager, Civil Engineering, Field Engineer, Electrical Engineering or similar position within the industrial or construction sector.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in project development, i.e., design, validation, manufacture/installation, testing/commissioning, quality/safety.
  • Experience in project delivery and control including risk/issue management, contracts, financial reporting.
  • Understanding of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Root cause analysis; and an ability to carefully, systematically research problems.
  • An ability to develop a positive working relationships with staff at all levels, suppliers and customers alike
  • Experience in project management and coordination of multiple disciplines.
  • Experience and technical knowledge in the preparation of plans and specifications.
  • Experience in leading and facilitating meetings with very complex and detailed materials.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a positive and cooperative working relationships with diverse workforce.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Working Conditions:

  • Travel Requirement: 25%-50%
  • This is a project-based position. Once the project ends in Dulles, the role may require to support another projects in Georgia or other US sites
