Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Design Engineer to lead the architecture, design, development, and release of advanced embedded electronic products for industrial and high-availability applications. This role requires a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in electronic hardware design, strong project ownership, and the ability to mentor engineering teams while driving products from concept through production release.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience designing complex embedded systems, utilizing Cadence design tools, managing technical risks, and coordinating cross-functional development activities. This individual will serve as a technical leader within the organization, influencing product strategy, technology adoption, engineering best practices, and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & System Design
•Lead the design and development of complex electronic hardware systems from initial concept through production release.
•Define system architecture and partitioning for embedded products incorporating processors, microcontrollers, FPGAs, communications interfaces, sensors, and power management subsystems.
•Perform circuit design, schematic capture, simulation, component selection, and PCB layout guidance using Cadence design tools.
•Develop hardware solutions that meet performance, reliability, environmental, EMC, safety, manufacturability, and cost objectives.
•Conduct design reviews and provide technical leadership throughout the product development lifecycle.
•Collaborate with software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and product management teams to ensure successful product execution.
•Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies into future product roadmaps.
Technical Leadership
•Serve as technical lead for major product development initiatives.
•Mentor junior and mid-level engineers in hardware design methodologies, design reviews, troubleshooting techniques, and engineering best practices.
•Establish engineering standards, design guidelines, and development processes.
•Drive root cause investigations and corrective actions for complex technical issues.
•Lead technical decision-making and trade-off analyses involving performance, reliability, cost, schedule, and manufacturability.
Hardware Design & Validation
•Design mixed-signal, analog, digital, power, and communication circuitry.
•Guide PCB stack-up development, signal integrity considerations, power integrity analysis, and thermal management strategies.
•Develop validation plans, qualification procedures, and design verification testing.
•Support prototype bring-up, debugging, and system integration activities.
•Analyze and resolve complex hardware failures using laboratory equipment and advanced troubleshooting techniques.
Compliance & Product Certification
•Lead product compliance efforts with external certification agencies and test laboratories related to EMC/EMI testing, Electrical Safety Certifications and Environmental Compliance Requirements.
Documentation & Change Management
•Create and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation for all phases of design, test, compliance, and product support.
•Drive engineering change management processes by coordinating Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
