Summary/objective:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for completing routine and emergency repairs to equipment, fixtures, fittings and building systems.
Essential functions
- Performs routine inspections and maintenance of industrial machinery and equipment.
- Conducts planned maintenance activities to prevent equipment breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Performs and maintains monthly and quarterly PM schedules on all plant equipment including compressors, boilers, and heating equipment.
Additional Responsibilities
- Review and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to assist in the installation or repair of equipment.
- Makes necessary modifications and implements test runs on machinery as required.
- Performs basic plumbing, welding, and HVAC repairs as needed.
- Inspect equipment to ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
- Follow and maintain lock out tag out records for all equipment at assigned facility.
- Performs all work using safety equipment as instructed while obeying all safety rules and procedures.

- Be able to assist in the department where needed by supervisor.
- Assist in training of less experienced operators to develop their skill and knowledge of operations.
- Assist in training less experience maintenance personnel.

- Alert lead and supervision of any problems with equipment or building.

- Be competent in machine, electrical, and plumbing maintenance.
- Be able to tear down, move, and/or construct equipment as directed by a supervisor.
- Be able to read and understand blueprints, drawings, layouts, and schematics within the scope of the job requirement.
- Monitor inventory level of spare parts and other materials pertaining to the maintenance operation and initiate re-order action when appropriate.
Required Skills and Ability:
- Employee must be physically able to work in areas so as to not harm themselves or others, and must be able to safely use and repair machinery and tools.
- Employee must be able to perform required maintenance on building and equipment as required by a supervisor.
- Employee must be able to maintain a preventive maintenance schedule of all general equipment to include compressors, boilers, and heating equipment.
- Employee must understand how to fill out all paperwork for all areas.
- Must possess computer knowledge sufficient to perform the job.
- Must be a problem solver with very good mechanical ability, and work well as a team.
- Employee must be able to operate all machines and equipment in the maintenance department and to fabricate and machine parts and special adapters as directed by supervisor.
- Employee must be able to communicate with supervisor any issues they may find that affects the performance of the area, product, or safety of the facility.

Strength Requirements:
Medium
Up to 50lbs of force exerted occasionally, and up to 20lbs frequently, up to 10lbs constantly.
Work Environment:
Employee may be exposed to wet and humid conditions and Dust/Fumes/Gas or Chemicals. Employee may need to work around extreme heat or cold, moving machinery, heights, or cramped areas.
Education/Training Requirement:
This position requires some on the job training. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED, and technical certificate must be held by employee to qualify for this position. In lieu of technical training certificate, equivalent experience, other technical training or combination of the two may be acceptable to fulfil qualifications.
