Shelter Specialist - Overnight
Pay: $24.00
Location: North Portland and surrounding locations
Schedule: Days vary, includes weekends 7:45 pm -6:15 am
Seeking a dedicated and experienced Shelter Specialist, Overnight, to join a compassionate team committed to providing safe and supportive overnight shelter services. In this vital role, you will oversee the safety, security, and well-being of residents during nighttime hours, ensuring a secure environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong crisis intervention skills, and the ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
Duties
- Monitor the shelter environment overnight to ensure safety and security for all residents and staff.
- Maintaining clean environment, bathrooms, floors, garbage's, common areas
- Respond promptly to emergencies or crises using established protocols, including crisis intervention and conflict management techniques.
- Conduct intake assessments for new residents arriving during overnight hours, gathering essential information and facilitating smooth admissions.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols including first aid procedures and security measures such as monitoring surveillance systems.
Qualifications
- Must have at least 6 months of experience working in a shelter.
- Proven crisis intervention skills with the ability to de-escalate conflicts effectively.
- Strong conflict management and communication skills to engage residents empathetically and professionally.
