Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior L3 Network Engineer to join a network infrastructure team. This role calls for deep expertise in enterprise network design, implementation, and troubleshooting. The engineer will architect complex network solutions, improve performance, and help ensure secure, reliable connectivity across the organization's infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 network architectures using Cisco Catalyst platforms.
- Develop and deploy BGP routing strategies for internal and external connectivity.
- Create network solutions that address complex business requirements and technical challenges.
- Implement and manage microsegmentation technologies to strengthen network security and isolation.
- Use Terraform and Ansible to automate network infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
- Work with cross-functional teams to turn business needs into scalable network designs.
- Diagnose and resolve complex network issues in production environments.
- Maintain network configuration documentation, procedures, and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Layer 2 protocols and concepts, including RSTP, VLANs, trunk and access ports, Layer 2 forwarding, and MAC address tables, specifically on the Cisco Catalyst 9300 platform.
- Strong understanding of BGP routing, including iBGP and eBGP configuration and optimization.
- Proven network design experience, including architecting solutions and delivering new network features.
- Solid foundation in Layer 3 networks and routing principles.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing microsegmentation using PVLANs, Cisco TrustSec/SGTs, or equivalent security segmentation methods.
- Hands-on experience with both Terraform and Ansible is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 8 years of enterprise network engineering experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Highly Preferred Qualifications
- Meaningful experience with Cisco Catalyst 9800 wireless controllers.
- Hands-on experience designing and supporting networks in Operational Technology (OT) environments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders for extended periods.
- Comfort working in data centers with varying temperatures and noise levels.
- Ability to travel up to 20% for site visits, maintenance, and project deployments.
