Job Title: Quality Technician / CMM Programmer
Job Description
The Quality Technician / CMM Programmer leads the inspection team and ensures that all manufactured parts consistently meet rigorous quality standards. This role focuses on programming and setting up Zeiss Calypso CMM machines, performing detailed inspections at various stages of production, troubleshooting measurement issues, and training team members on proper inspection methods. The position plays a key role in maintaining accurate quality records, identifying non-conforming product, and continuously improving inspection processes to support efficient and reliable production.
Responsibilities
- Program and set up Zeiss Calypso CMM machines to support production and quality requirements.
- Create, update, and maintain CMM programs to accurately measure parts and verify compliance with specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, specifications, and GD&T callouts to determine inspection criteria.
- Perform incoming, in-process, and first article inspections to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot CMM programs and measurement issues, resolving errors and improving program reliability.
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment to verify dimensions.
- Conduct visual inspections and quality checks to identify defects, non-conformances, and potential issues.
- Train and support inspectors and CMM operators on proper inspection techniques, measurement methods, and use of equipment.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, CMM programs, and quality documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Enter inspection results into the quality management system and ensure data integrity.
- Create non-conformance reports (NCRs) when products do not meet specifications and support follow-up actions.
- Contribute to improving inspection processes, accuracy, and efficiency through problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to address quality concerns and support corrective and preventive actions.
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of hands-on CMM programming experience.
- Proficiency programming and operating Zeiss CMMs using Calypso software.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and its application in inspection and measurement.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical specifications.
- Experience performing incoming, in-process, and first article inspections.
- Skilled in using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in quality inspection, including visual inspection and quality checks.
- Ability to identify and document non-conforming product and generate non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in measurement and documentation.
- Effective problem-solving skills, particularly in troubleshooting CMM programs and measurement issues.
- Good communication skills with the ability to train and support other inspectors and operators.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience programming and operating CMMs in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of first article and incoming inspection processes and best practices.
- Experience working with quality management software or digital quality systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with production machining, pumps, valves, and assembled kits is beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively with CNC machining, assembly, and shipping/receiving teams.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain inspection records and documentation.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to established quality procedures.

Work Environment
The role is based in a well-organized, safe manufacturing environment with approximately 100 employees across two buildings. One building houses CNC machining centers that produce parts for pumps, valves, and kits, while the other focuses on assembly and shipping/receiving operations. The facility assembles roughly 15,000 pumps per year, providing a production setting with a variety of products that keeps the work engaging and diverse. You will work closely with CNC machinists, assemblers, and logistics staff, using Zeiss Calypso CMM machines and common precision measuring tools in a structured, process-driven environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $99840.00/yr.
