Job Status: Part-time
Hours Worked: Weekdays 4-7pm, Saturday 8am-4

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Team Manager of Youth Development

Positions Supervised: None Travel Required: Varies based on assignment

Position Summary

This position provides direct service in a group or individual setting for children who are on the SED Waiver. A mental health respite provider offers short-term care and supervision for individuals with mental health needs, ensuring their safety, and emotional support while giving primary caregivers temporary relief.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide direct personal care.
  • Engage clients in conversation and emotional support.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Follow care plans.
  • Observe and report changes in client behaviors.
  • Complete clinical documentation correctly.
  • Complete documentation in a timely manner meeting the agencies minimum expectation for timely documentation consistently.
  • Document persons served attendance, as well as attempted contact with parents/caregivers and other treatment providers when persons served attendance is inconsistent.
  • Remain informed of agency and program developments.
  • Respect and demonstrate an ability to maintain persons served confidentiality.
  • Support and actively promote the vision and mission of Astra Mental Health and Recovery.
  • Transport persons served in an agency or personal vehicle as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by team managers.

Other Duties

• Demonstrate cultural and linguistic competence
• Approach interactions with individuals served and colle agues with a trauma sensitive lens
• Acts as an ambassador of the agency in the community setting, which may include doing public educational and informational presentations.
• Support and actively promote the vision and mission of the agency and the philosophy of the strengths perspective
• Completes required trainings
• Other duties as assigned, as qualified and trained for.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must possess and maintain the following: a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Must successfully pass the KBI and DCF Central Registry background investigations.

Experience:

  • One year of experience working with children is preferred.
  • Must possess and utilize sufficient interpersonal skills to promote teamwork both internally and externally.
  • Basic understanding of mental health issues affecting youth.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are important.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
