Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment throughout an industrial manufacturing plant. This role focuses on ensuring high equipment availability, supporting preventive maintenance programs, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives while working safely and efficiently across multiple production lines.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with all plant policies and procedures.
- Work with machinery and mechanical equipment including motors, pneumatic and hydraulic components, conveyor systems, and production line equipment.
- Perform daily electrical troubleshooting and repair on production and facility equipment.
- Perform daily mechanical troubleshooting and repair, including diagnosis of mechanical failures and component replacement.
- Repair and maintain hydraulic components and systems as a core part of daily responsibilities.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance (PMs) and execute the plant’s preventive maintenance schedule to maximize equipment availability.
- Read and interpret diagrams, sketches, blueprints, schematics, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications to support installation and repair work.
- Use hand tools, power tools, precision-measuring devices, and testing instruments safely and effectively to perform maintenance tasks.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot root causes of equipment issues in a professional and timely manner, minimizing downtime.
- Perform basic PLC troubleshooting to identify and resolve control-related issues.
- Track and complete work orders manually, documenting work performed and parts used as required.
- Work collaboratively with operators on process improvements and train operators on routine preventive maintenance tasks.
- Support engineering and continuous improvement projects, including equipment trials, modifications, and new installations.
- Maintain good housekeeping in the maintenance department and in all work areas after completing jobs.
- Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures while performing all tasks.
- Perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned by leadership to support plant operations.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on mechanical experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Electrical abilities with the capability to troubleshoot electrical issues safely and effectively.
- Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, including working with motors, 3-phase power, and systems up to approximately 400V.
- Experience with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting on industrial equipment, including presses, cutting machines, forming machines, and conveyor systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial equipment and following a structured PM schedule.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems, including diagnosing and repairing hydraulic components.
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems and components and the ability to troubleshoot related issues.
- Basic PLC troubleshooting skills to support diagnosis of control system problems.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools such as a megger meter, multimeter, amp probe, and infrared thermometer.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, precision-measuring devices, and electrical testing instruments in a maintenance setting.
- Capability to work across multiple shifts as needed, including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to multiple press, cutting, and forming machines.
- Experience in welding and general maintenance repair work.
- Exposure to HVAC systems and related maintenance tasks.
- Experience supporting engineering or continuous improvement projects, such as equipment trials and installations.
- Comfort working with manually tracked work orders and documenting maintenance activities.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term corrective actions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with production operators and other departments to improve processes and equipment reliability.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining clean and organized work areas.

Work Environment
This role is based in an industrial manufacturing facility equipped with approximately 16 press machines, 2 cutting machines, and 2 forming machines. The plant is well lit and designed to support safe and efficient operations. With multiple presses running, the environment can become warm, so comfort working in a sometimes hot industrial setting is important. Maintenance Technicians support operations across three primary shifts: 1st shift typically runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. You regularly use hand tools, power tools, precision-measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment such as megger meters, multimeters, amp probes, and infrared thermometers. Work orders are tracked manually, and you move throughout the plant to service machinery, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to breakdowns while following all safety and environmental guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buford, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
