HAP ACCOUNTANT
LOCATION
Chandler, AZ | Onsite
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
• $60,000yr with 5% bonus potential
• Schedule: Standard Work Hours

Join a fast-paced housing environment where you’ll manage HAP payments, resident account reconciliations, and Housing Authority requirements while partnering with property management teams to keep accounts accurate and compliant.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Access Housing Authority portals to retrieve payment information and provide required financial data for Request for Tenancy Approval (RTA) packets.
• Create receipt batches in Yardi and accurately apply HAP payments.
• Research and reconcile HAP and resident accounts receivable (AR) balances, resident ledgers, and payment applications.
• Review HAP contracts and resident leases to verify charges and support compliance with HUD policies and housing regulations.
• Communicate with property management personnel and Housing Authorities to resolve discrepancies, maintain documentation, and support monthly compliance audits.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• MUST HAVE: Property management experience.
• MUST HAVE: Hands-on experience with Yardi property management software.
• Working knowledge of general accounting, including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and GAAP; HAP, HCV, Housing Authority, or HUD housing experience strongly preferred.
CORE TOOLS & SYSTEMS
• Yardi property management software
• Housing Authority portals and HAP/HCV systems
• Microsoft Excel, including exporting data and creating internal reports
• Resident ledger and accounting systems
PREFERRED SKILLS
• BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Knowledge of HUD policies and regulations in a housing environment.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment.
