Job Description
The Maintenance Mechanic position ensures the continuous operation of production and facility equipment through troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance. This role supports plant operations by maintaining mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems across production and utility equipment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose equipment issues and repair or replace defective components.
- Perform scheduled maintenance to prevent breakdowns.
- Assist with installing and setting up machinery.
- Maintain utility systems such as steam, gas, air, and electrical.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety standards and OSHA regulations.
Essential Skills
- Strong technical skills and hands-on experience with industrial equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting principles: investigating, evaluating, repairing, and preventing.
- Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance on production and utility systems.
- Knowledge of safe machine startup/shutdown procedures and OSHA compliance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years of maintenance/mechanic experience, especially in packaging or food production.
- Technical certification or trade school education preferred.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and operate shop equipment.
- Experience using work orders and maintenance tracking systems.
- Strong critical thinking and ability to work under pressure.

Work Environment
The role is based in a fast-paced food processing/manufacturing plant, working around active machinery and industrial equipment. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm. Expect frequent lifting, climbing ladders, working at heights, and operating in tight spaces, with exposure to heat, steam, noise, and mechanical operations. The environment is safety-focused, adhering to OSHA guidelines, with a team-oriented atmosphere collaborating with maintenance staff, production teams, and plant management.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Angola, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr.
