Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of facility machinery and equipment. This role performs routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems, and coordinates with outside vendors as needed.
Key ResponsibilitiesSafety and Compliance
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and site requirements
- Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives
- Identify hazards and take appropriate corrective action
- Maintain awareness of applicable safety standards and regulations
- Ensure all work is performed in a safe manner, including lockout/tagout procedures
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify potential issues
- Conduct preventive maintenance to support equipment reliability and longevity
- Maintain plastic extrusion machinery, hot stamping equipment, and supporting systems
- Work within established preventive maintenance programs
- Repair or replace defective components as needed
- Repair and maintain small pumps, electric motors, and related systems
Troubleshooting
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using appropriate tools and equipment
- Perform electrical troubleshooting on motors, controls, sensors, and wiring systems
- Diagnose failures, complete repairs, and verify proper operation
- Troubleshoot hydraulic presses, including valves, cylinders, and associated controls
- Investigate recurring issues and support long-term solutions
- Identify replacement parts, including alternatives for obsolete components
Repair and Installation
- Perform repairs on hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical equipment
- Install and set up new equipment, ensuring proper alignment and operation
- Work with external vendors when specialized service is required
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Identify hazards and take appropriate corrective action
- Maintain awareness of applicable safety standards and requirements
Documentation
- Record maintenance, inspection, and repair activities
- Provide input on equipment condition and improvement opportunities
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation
- Knowledge of high and low voltage systems
- Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Basic computer and communication skills
Preferred:
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Experience with manual machining or fabrication equipment (mills, lathes, etc.)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
- Regular lifting of 30–50 pounds
- Work in varying environmental conditions (temperature, noise, dust, fumes)
- Ability to visually inspect equipment
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical training preferred
- 3–5 years of relevant maintenance experience preferred
