Role Summary
\n
Synechron is looking for ARO Engineering Platform Consultant . Design, implement, and operationalize an enterprise Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) platform. Establish the ARO landing zone, Terraform automation, GitHub Actions CI/CD standards, security controls, RBAC, observability, and self-service onboarding capabilities. Partner with Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Security, IAM, and Application teams to enable secure, scalable, and compliant application delivery.

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Glen Allen, VA is $115 k - $130 k/year & benefits (see below).

Key Responsibilities
\n
- \n
- Architect and implement production and non-production ARO environments, including networking, ingress, egress, connectivity, namespaces, disaster recovery, and multi-region patterns.
- Develop reusable Terraform modules for ARO, Azure RBAC, Entra ID groups, workload identity, Key Vault, Azure Container Registry, networking, monitoring, and namespace provisioning.
- Establish Infrastructure as Code, policy-as-code, state management, module versioning, and automated environment provisioning standards.
- Design GitHub Enterprise structures, repository governance, and reusable GitHub Actions workflows.
- Implement CI/CD controls including branch protection, pull-request governance, security scanning, quality gates, artifact signing, approvals, and application onboarding.
- Define and implement ARO RBAC, Entra ID integration, least-privilege access, PIM, service-account governance, workload identities, and separation-of-duties controls.
- Establish security baselines, secrets management, Key Vault CSI integration, compliance checks, vulnerability scanning, and audit support.
- Implement Datadog monitoring, dashboards, alerts, SLOs, health reporting, capacity planning, runbooks, and escalation procedures.
- Create developer onboarding processes, deployment templates, platform documentation, training, and application migration playbooks.
- Lead technical design reviews, architecture decisions, stakeholder communications, and knowledge transfer.

Required Skills and Qualifications
\n
- \n
- 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or DevOps.
- 3+ years of Azure Red Hat OpenShift or OpenShift experience.
- Advanced Terraform development and reusable module design skills.
- Strong experience with GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Actions.
- Proficiency in Azure networking, Entra ID, Azure RBAC, managed identities, Key Vault, Azure Container Registry, and API Management.
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes/OpenShift platform architecture, security, RBAC, and least-privilege design.
- Experience implementing enterprise DevSecOps, CI/CD governance, infrastructure scanning, and compliance controls.
- Experience with observability platforms, preferably Datadog.
- Excellent technical documentation, communication, stakeholder management, and knowledge-transfer skills.
