Morris Bean & Company is a technologically innovative aluminum foundry established in 1946. Located in Yellow Springs, Ohio, our 185,000-square-foot facility serves customers in industries including air and gas separation, commercial refrigeration, diesel locomotives, medical equipment, pump components, energy, and military applications.

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance and plant support operations. This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility for equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, employee scheduling, purchasing, outside contractors, and day-to-day plant support.

Position Highlights

• 1st Shift: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with some overtime and Saturday work required
• Supervise 8 bargaining unit employees in the maintenance and service departments
• Non-bargaining-unit position responsible for supervising bargaining-unit employees represented by the United Steelworkers (USW)
• Report directly to the Plant Manager
• Hands-on technical and supervisory role

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, schedule, and direct the daily activities of the Maintenance Technicians and Service Clerks.
• Prioritize maintenance and plant support work based on equipment needs, preventive maintenance requirements, and production priorities.
• Assign work and monitor progress to ensure activities are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and other equipment problems.
• Provide hands-on technical support and guidance to maintenance personnel.
• Oversee preventive maintenance activities and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce unscheduled downtime.
• Order maintenance parts, supplies, tools, and services and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
• Coordinate and oversee outside contractors, vendors, repairs, and facility projects.
• Work closely with Production and other departments to resolve equipment and operational issues.
• Ensure employees follow company safety requirements and Best Work Practices, including LOTO, Hot Work, GMP, and other applicable procedures.
• Communicate maintenance, safety, productivity, and equipment concerns clearly and promptly.
• Maintain appropriate maintenance records and communicate significant issues and trends to the Plant Manager.

Service Clerk Oversight

Service Clerks provide important plant support functions including stockroom operations, material handling, movement of materials throughout the plant, floor sweeping, plaster preparation, and other miscellaneous plant support duties. The Maintenance Supervisor schedules and directs these activities to support production and overall plant operations.

Technical Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in industrial maintenance, including:

• Three-phase electrical systems, including 480 VAC
• Low-voltage electrical systems and AC/DC controls
• Electrical troubleshooting using schematics, drawings, manuals, and multimeters
• Photo eyes, proximity switches, and similar sensors
• PLC-controlled equipment and non-programmer-level PLC troubleshooting
• Mechanical equipment including gearboxes, bearings, rotating equipment, and pneumatic systems
• Machinery assembly/disassembly and precision measurement
• Welding and fabrication
• General industrial plumbing using PVC, copper, stainless steel, and black iron pipe
• Preventive maintenance and industrial equipment troubleshooting
• Broad range of hand and power tools
• Forklift and boom lift operation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience
• Previous maintenance leadership or supervisory experience
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals
• Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to prioritize competing needs and make sound day-to-day decisions
• Ability to work effectively with employees, management, vendors, contractors, and other departments
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds and work in tight areas around machinery

Preferred: Associate degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field.
