Role Description The Lead Custodian is a full-time, on-site role located in Fairfax, VA, responsible for daily custodial operations to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment. This role includes performing routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, restroom sanitation, and surface disinfecting. The Lead Custodian coordinates work assignments, provides guidance to custodial staff, and monitors the quality and timeliness of completed tasks. Additional responsibilities include maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting maintenance issues, and following safety and infection control procedures. This position may also support training of team members, assist with special event setup and cleanup, and collaborate with supervisors to improve custodial processes.

  • Strong custodial skills, including floor care, restroom sanitation, trash removal, and general cleaning of offices and common areas.
  • \n

  • Experience leading or coordinating a custodial team, assigning tasks, and monitoring work quality and productivity.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of safe use and basic maintenance of cleaning equipment and chemicals, with adherence to safety and infection control standards.
  • \n

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams, provide clear instructions, and interact respectfully with staff and visitors.
  • \n

  • Ability to follow schedules, prioritize tasks, and work with minimal supervision while maintaining reliability and punctuality.
  • \n

  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • \n

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior experience in custodial or facility maintenance roles is strongly beneficial.
  • \n
