Job Description
This role focuses on performing preventive and corrective maintenance in retail grocery facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. You will work across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and equipment servicing disciplines to keep building systems and store equipment functioning at peak performance while supporting store teams with professional, customer-focused service.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair building systems and equipment issues in retail grocery environments.
- Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and related systems according to established standards.
- Follow all safety procedures, repair standards, and company policies while completing maintenance and repair tasks.
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools, parts, and equipment to support efficient maintenance operations.
- Prioritize and complete work orders to reduce equipment downtime and support continuous store operations.
- Keep work areas, shops, and job sites clean, organized, and safe at all times.
- Operate welding equipment, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively for maintenance and repair work.
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and blueprints to diagnose issues and complete repairs accurately.
- Use computer-based maintenance management systems (CMMS/PM systems) to document work, track tasks, and manage preventive maintenance schedules.
- Communicate clearly with store teams and leadership to provide updates on maintenance activities and equipment status.
- Provide professional, customer-focused service while working in active retail store environments.
- Work independently across multiple locations, managing time and tasks to meet maintenance priorities.
Essential Skills
- Two-year technical degree or equivalent maintenance experience.
- 5+ years of commercial or industrial maintenance experience.
- Trade certification in a discipline such as HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, millwright, plumbing, or machining.
- Ability to obtain and maintain certifications and licenses including forklift, scissor lift, boiler license, and lockout/tagout (LOTO).
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills with proven troubleshooting ability.
- Hands-on welding experience including MIG, TIG, and Stick processes.
- Knowledge of PLC programming and control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Experience with HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration equipment, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency with CMMS/PM systems (experience preferred).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in facilities maintenance within retail, grocery, or similar environments.
- Familiarity with standard office equipment and basic administrative tasks related to maintenance documentation.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain tools, parts, and workspaces.

Work Environment
You will work primarily in grocery stores across the Twin Cities metro area, supporting multiple locations as needed. The environment includes active retail spaces and back-of-house areas, where you will interact with store teams and occasionally customers. You will regularly use welding equipment, power tools, shop equipment, and standard office equipment to perform your duties. The role requires working safely around store operations, equipment, and building systems, and maintaining a clean, organized work area. Dress will be practical and appropriate for a hands-on maintenance role in a retail setting, with required personal protective equipment provided or specified as needed.

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
