Job Description
The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe operation of production equipment and processes on the manufacturing floor. This position focuses on setting up, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated and manual machinery, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting production teams to meet quality and output goals.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the production floor to ensure equipment and processes run efficiently and safely.
- Respond to maintenance calls, including preventative maintenance checklists, based on skill level and prioritization of each request.
- Set up equipment in automatic machines, manual operations, and other work areas according to work instructions and area manuals.
- Change punches and other tooling as needed to maintain consistent and reliable production.
- Repair manufacturing equipment in accordance with established company protocols and procedures.
- Complete preventative maintenance (PM) checklists and carry out associated tasks to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Identify recurring equipment or process problems and develop effective solutions to reduce or eliminate their occurrence.
- Maintain accurate quantities for items tracked in the inventory system to support maintenance and production needs.
- Follow all safety procedures in accordance with approved training and immediately report any dangerous conditions to management.
- Work closely with Bagging, Roll Making, and Molding departments to support workflow and resolve equipment issues.
- Collaborate with the Production Supervisor and Scheduling team to communicate the status of all manufacturing orders and equipment availability.
- Perform basic quality assessments and complete related paperwork sign-offs to ensure standards are met.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in related fields or technical training in mechanical or manufacturing maintenance (a combination of work experience and training is preferred).
- Mechanical maintenance skills with the ability to set up, adjust, and repair production machinery.
- Experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve recurring equipment and process issues.
- Electrical troubleshooting skills sufficient to diagnose and repair equipment-related electrical problems.
- Basic programming or familiarity with automated machine controls and production equipment settings.
- Ability to supervise or coordinate tasks related to maintenance activities when needed.
- Experience working with molding equipment or in molding operations.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities across mechanical and electrical systems.
- High school diploma or GED.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Optic or vision inspection experience is a plus.
- Experience with or familiarity with PLCs (programmable logic controllers) is highly beneficial.
- Comfort working in a production environment with automated and manual equipment.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, manuals, and maintenance documentation.
- Attention to detail when completing quality assessments and maintenance records.

Work Environment
This role is based in a modern manufacturing facility specializing in unique septa and cap lining systems. The work involves regular exposure to areas near moving mechanical parts and occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, and explosive materials. Appropriate personal protective equipment is provided whenever working with chemicals or explosive materials. The noise level in the facility is usually moderate. The standard shift runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., offering a consistent daytime schedule.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
