Job Title: Quality Technician – 3rd Shift

Job Description

This role focuses on performing detailed quality audits and inspections within a precision machining environment to ensure products, processes, and systems meet internal standards and external regulatory and customer requirements. You will support manufacturing by verifying compliance with IATF and ISO 9001 standards, identifying nonconformances, and driving continuous improvement in quality and process performance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal audits of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and documentation in alignment with IATF, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Perform process, product, and system audits, including layered process audits and compliance audits, to verify adherence to established standards.
  • Participate in or support customer, supplier, and third-party audits by providing documentation, answering questions, and demonstrating compliance.
  • Verify adherence to control plans, work instructions, standard operating procedures, and inspection plans on the shop floor.
  • Identify nonconformances during audits and inspections, document findings clearly, and initiate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Review and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions to ensure issues are resolved and do not recur.
  • Maintain accurate and organized audit records, reports, and quality documentation in accordance with quality management system requirements.
  • Ensure calibration and inspection records for measuring equipment and gauges are accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Audit machining processes, including CNC operations, tooling, fixturing, and measurement methods, to confirm process capability and compliance.
  • Review inspection techniques related to GD&T, first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections to ensure proper execution.
  • Perform hands-on quality checks using calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMMs, and visual inspection methods to verify product conformance.
  • Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to validate dimensional and geometric requirements during inspections.
  • Work closely with Quality Engineers, Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
  • Identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities within manufacturing and quality systems using audit findings and inspection data.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on scrap reduction, process capability enhancement, and defect prevention.
  • Use Microsoft Office and quality management systems to record data, prepare reports, and communicate audit and inspection results.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of quality auditing or quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in precision machining and/or automotive manufacturing settings.
  • Working knowledge of IATF and ISO 9001 quality management standards.
  • Familiarity with automotive quality tools and their application in a production environment.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and its use in inspection and verification.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for documentation, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Experience working within quality management systems to document audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Hands-on experience performing quality control, quality inspection, and quality assurance activities in production environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience conducting layered process audits and compliance audits in manufacturing.
  • Experience in quality improvements, including quality checks and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Familiarity with first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections.
  • Experience using gauges and other precision measurement tools for dimensional inspection.
  • Ability to perform visual inspections and identify defects in machined components.
  • Comfort working closely with cross-functional teams, including Production, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and thorough documentation.
  • Capability to identify trends and risks using audit and inspection data and translate findings into improvement actions.

Work Environment

You will work in a precision machining environment that supports 3rd shift operations. The facility focuses on CNC machining and related processes, using tooling, fixturing, and advanced measurement methods to produce high-accuracy components. Daily work involves frequent interaction with production equipment and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, and other gauges, as well as regular use of computers and quality management systems for documentation and reporting. The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $52000.00/yr.
