Manufacturing Quality Assurance Specialist (Metrology & SPC)
Job Description
Job DescriptionWhat a day looks like
You arrive, open Epicor, and review the day’s builds. Your first task: compare engineering drawings and schematics to parts from the line. With micrometers and gauges in hand, you verify critical dimensions, log results, and flag anything that isn’t tracking to blueprint specifications. Mid-morning, you run a nondestructive test to confirm material characteristics and then schedule a destructive test to validate life and performance. In the afternoon, you transform raw numbers into charts and reports, using statistical quality control to confirm processes are in control—or to spotlight deviations from standards for quick correction. Along the way, you lend a hand on a PCB troubleshooting question from a teammate and share best practices to lift the entire cell’s quality.
Core responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, and formulas to determine inspection criteria and test plans.
- Capture, organize, and analyze inspection results in Epicor and Microsoft Office; apply statistical quality control methods (SPC) to production data.
- Prepare graphs, charts, and narrative reports that validate conformance or clearly indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Set up and execute destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, and finished products to measure performance, life, and material properties.
- Partner with production and engineering to communicate findings, recommend corrective actions, and verify effectiveness.
- Leverage metrology tools—gauges, micrometers, and related instruments—to confirm accuracy against blueprints.
- PCB experience and troubleshooting is a plus.
Competencies that make you successful

- Computer: working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and master the Quality and Production software used at Potter.
- Language: read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; present information effectively one-on-one and in small groups to customers, clients, and colleagues.
- Reasoning: apply common-sense understanding to follow detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions; handle problems with a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
