This position is responsible for handling all day-to-day machinery and plant maintenance needs. The role involves regular and preventative machinery maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical or facilities issues, making necessary repairs, and completing all related documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preventative maintenance for all plant equipment and the facility.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs.
  • Assist in new plant manufacturing, packaging, and facility equipment.
  • Fabricate new equipment and parts as needed in packaging and production areas.
  • Work with contractors and service providers on equipment installations and maintenance contracts.
  • Address facility maintenance requirements or issues as identified by the shift supervisor or management.
  • Maintain equipment logs, scale calibrations, and facilities maintenance records.
  • Collaborate with employees, shift supervisors, and management to develop process improvements.
  • Perform preventive and corrective repairs on production and packaging lines.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot plant utilities and facility systems.
  • Inspect and service conveyors, carts, and other moving parts.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety and food manufacturing standards.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong skills in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work weekends or overtime as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, mechanical, and preventive maintenance.
  • Experience with machinery maintenance, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC.
  • Familiarity with schematics, blueprint reading, PLC troubleshooting, welding, and PLC control.

Work Environment

Employees must wear steel-toed boots and hairnets for safety and hygiene. The fast-paced tasks include sorting candy, operating machines, packing boxes, and cleaning equipment. The plant operates across two daily shifts, with some schedules requiring long hours or night shifts, especially during peak production periods. The team atmosphere is approachable and friendly, but a 'sink-or-swim' training style may require quick adaptation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Hollister, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $39.00/hr.
