Job Summary

This Software Engineer role is part of the Developer Experience Engineering team, which serves all 1,600 software engineers who write applications that perform trading. The team is split into three squads a Linux Developer Desktop squad and two engineering squads and looks after internal tooling, including an in-house platform called Unity that enables engineers to take ideas from the business, build code, test code, and securely deliver and deploy software into AWS. Unity (written in Java and Kotlin) is made up of best-in-class vendor tooling including GitLab, JFrog (Artifactory), and a security vulnerability scanning tool Nexus. The role focuses on integrating software, enhancing internal tooling, making enhancements, and securing the software pipeline, with some security involvement. The team is global 50/50 US/UK and provides tools, services, and engineering tools/services. The ideal candidate enjoys working as part of a team, solving problems, and is collaborative and people-focused. Engineers write code, build, test, and ship it to the cloud, then maintain and evolve it they own it end to end.

Key Responsibilities

Provide wide-ranging system administration in a multi-platform environment
Responsible for general systems administration tasks including system configuration management, OS installations, security updates, and urgent system patching
Write and implement scripts to automate tasks
Identify and troubleshoot hardware components that are problematic
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, network disruption awareness, and predefined key processes
Review system logs, application logs, and security logs
Enhance features and take on backlog items using Java, Kotlin, and Python, including creating dashboards and calling out endpoints
Integrate software and make enhancements to internal tooling while securing the software pipeline
Write user stories in Jira and integrate into Scrum team workflows
Take engineered features and deploy them through testing and building stages
Perform support rotations every 6 weeks, handling tickets raised by software developers and engineering solutions to prevent recurrence of the same ticket types
Work across time zones (US and UK teams)

Preferred Skills

AWS experience (noted as a plus)

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field required

Required Experience

8 10 years of experience required
Proven work experience as a system or network administrator

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

Hybrid schedule 2 days/week on-site at OM Tech Center
Global team environment; interviews conducted in AM hours (8:00 AM 12:00 PM) to accommodate London-based team members
