Our client is a prominent legal services provider within the Chicago and Houston area. We are seeking an experienced Senior DevSecOps Engineer II to help advance secure software delivery across our technology organization. In this role, you'll work closely with software engineering, infrastructure, quality assurance, and security teams to build scalable, automated, and security-focused development processes.
This position offers the opportunity to influence engineering best practices, improve deployment reliability, strengthen cloud security, and mentor team members while helping shape the future of our client's DevSecOps strategy.
This is a full-time, w2 direct hire position requiring onsite work within the Chicago or Houston office. Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder and living within the local area
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support secure CI/CD pipelines that enable efficient application development, testing, and deployment.
- Integrate security throughout the software development lifecycle using tools for SAST, DAST, software composition analysis (SCA), secrets detection, and infrastructure security scanning.
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using technologies such as Terraform, Bicep, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), or AWS CloudFormation.
- Secure and administer cloud infrastructure, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure while supporting cloud governance and compliance initiatives.
- Manage containerized environments and Kubernetes security, including image vulnerability scanning, RBAC, and runtime protection.
- Develop and promote secure engineering standards, deployment practices, and identity and access management controls.
- Implement enterprise secrets management and certificate management best practices.
- Monitor application and infrastructure health using observability and alerting platforms to improve system reliability.
- Partner with engineering teams to identify, prioritize, and remediate security vulnerabilities.
- Troubleshoot production and deployment issues while driving root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Automate operational and deployment tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Collaborate across multiple technical teams to improve platform stability, release quality, and security.
- Mentor engineers and advocate for DevSecOps principles, fostering a culture of automation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Cloud Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience integrating security controls into CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Jenkins.
- Expertise with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
- Experience developing and managing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or CloudFormation.
- Solid understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and container security best practices.
- Knowledge of application security principles, authentication methods, secrets management, and policy enforcement tools such as Azure Policy, Open Policy Agent (OPA), or Microsoft Sentinel.
- Proficiency with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Strong understanding of networking, operating systems, APIs, and distributed application architectures.
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms including Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK Stack, Splunk, or Azure Monitor.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
