Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician
Location: Midtown Montessori Academy
Classification: Full-time, Exempt
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
Salary Range: $25- $30/hr
Overview:
Midtown Montessori Academy is seeking a qualified, proactive Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for performing a variety of routine and preventative building maintenance and repair duties across our three private school locations. The ideal candidate ensures our campus environments remain safe, clean, and fully operational to support our students, staff, and families.
The Facilities Maintenance Team performs a variety of routine and preventative building maintenance and repair duties for all facilities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Building Maintenance & Systems

Perform minor repairs and maintenance for heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems, electrical, lighting, plumbing, boilers, and pumps.

Execute general maintenance tasks including painting and light construction/demolition as needed.

Oversee campus landscaping, snow removal, and general "curb appeal" to ensure a welcoming environment.

Complete work orders and maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner.
Proactive Inspections & Safety

Continually inspect facilities to identify and address proactive/preventative maintenance needs; document all findings.

Ensure all fire, safety, and health regulations are met, maintaining records for licensing inspections.

Keep the Campus Director informed of any facilities concerns, needs, or suggestions for improvement.

Manage security systems and playground equipment to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
Operations & Vendor Management

Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs (e.g., roofing, major electrical) and ensure work is completed to standard.

Monitor and order maintenance supplies and tools, collaborating with leadership on budget and inventory.

Maintain an organized workshop and storage areas; receive and put away supply deliveries promptly.
Qualifications

Age/Education: Must be at least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on facility maintenance experience and/or training, including light mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.

Technical Knowledge: General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting, light construction, and HVAC systems is required.

Digital Literacy: Basic knowledge of Google Workspace (Drive, Docs) preferred.

Clearance: Must pass a background check with no felonies or crimes against children.
Skills & Abilities

Language: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and follow complex oral/written directions.

Professionalism: Ability to interact in an appropriate and diplomatic manner with staff, parents, and students, even in stressful situations.

Work Ethic: Must possess a strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and the self-initiative to complete tasks independently while maintaining cooperative working relationships.

Physical: Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
