Role Overview

We are seeking a Jr. Software Developer to join our growing team in support of our federal program.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute to impactful, mission-critical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will use their enthusiasm and experience to provide support services and be an integral part of a team to facilitate the development of an advanced analytics web application to support aviation safety
  • Develop and maintain Java Spring Boot + Angular web application
  • Process data from both relational and graph databases
  • Follow coding and development best practices to write clean understandable code
  • Work as a supportive member of a development team

    Some high-level duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop applications by integrating COTS products, custom code and open source, in an AWS environment
  • Write code using Java, Python, Typescript (Angular), etc.
  • Create routines for data integration and data transfer using Postgres.
  • Work with both unstructured and semi-structured databases (AWS OpenSearch)
  • Ability to debug and trace multi-layered applications with version control and release management
  • Use JIRA or similar tools to track enhancements, bugs and implement fixes and other change requests as needed
  • Researching, designing, implementing, testing, and managing software
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines leveraging GitHub Actions
  • Ensure solutions follow secure coding practices and align with applicable enterprise security guidelines (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP awareness)
  • Brief internal and external stakeholders on technical progress, risks, and alternative courses of action through mediums such as presentations, documents, and discussions
  • Undertake special projects as required
  • Provide support and expertise in assigned domain
  • Write clean, efficient and complex algorithms and code based on the requirements
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions
  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and quality standards
  • Support continuous improvement and innovation initiatives
  • Special projects as needed

Required Skills

  • Experience in developing Java, Typescript, and Python
  • Experience in relational database e.g., SQL Server, Postgres etc.
  • Ability to create and test REST APIs
  • Writing clean and understandable code
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop both front-end and backend applications
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with both waterfall and agile methodologies
  • Experience working with a team with a consistent focus on accountability, delivery, and customer experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently with the key stakeholders in a courteous and professional manner
  • Strong planning and organizing skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Experience & Qualifications

  • 1+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience working as part of a product development team
  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced, client-focused environments
  • Experience supporting federal programs preferred

Education

  • Position requires BS/BA degree in Computer Science or a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 5+ years of experience OR a MS/MA degree in STEM discipline with 3+ years of experience

Work Location and Schedule

  • Mclean, VA/Washington D.C./Hybrid/Remote
  • Monday – Friday 8AM – 5:30PM EST
  • Work schedules and arrangements (remote/hybrid) may be adjusted based on client and program needs

Compensation

  • The likely salary range or Hourly rate for this position is $60,000K-$90,000K.

Salary range reflects our commitment to pay equity and transparency. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, certifications, labor qualifications, geographic location and contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Clearance Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident is required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal background check
  • Employment is subject to verification of eligibility to work in the United States
