About This Position
Mass Audubon is looking for a dedicated and reliable Property Manager with a passion for the environment at Broad Meadow Brook Wildlife Sanctuary in Worcester MA. The Property Manager works closely with staff at Broad Meadow Brook and throughout the Central Region on a variety of projects that are essential to the mission of Mass Audubon, including custodial and maintenance duties for assigned buildings, exhibits, and grounds consistent with Mass Audubon policies. This position also assists with trail, boundary, and building maintenance, monitoring land, maintaining equipment, assisting volunteers, monitoring visitor use, controlling invasive species, and maintaining cooperative relationships with neighbors, community partners, and the general public. The Property Manager ensures that Mass Audubon and its sanctuaries are inclusive and welcoming so more people have access and can connect with the joys of nature.

Responsibilities
- Work with Mass Audubon staff and volunteers to perform property maintenance and custodial tasks including: building maintenance and cleaning, trash and recycling removal, clearing and maintaining trails, mowing, repairing picnic tables, controlling invasive species, maintaining signage, marking boundaries, mowing, building maintenance and cleaning, and program set-up
- Work with supervisor and other Property Manager colleagues to develop weekly, monthly, and annual property maintenance work plans to be completed independently
- Address issues as they arise on wildlife sanctuaries
- Maintain equipment such as hand and power tools, chainsaws, etc. and assist with vehicle maintenance
- Assist with supervision of seasonal property staff (as needed) and volunteers
- All Persons Trail maintenance
- Coordinate and assist with special projects and events
Qualifications

We are looking for applicants with the following qualifications:
- High school diploma and at least three years of equivalent related experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to perform physical work, sometimes under adverse conditions
- Basic maintenance skills, including a knowledge of the safe operation of power tools and related equipment such as mowers
- Ability to hike over rough terrain for extended periods of time, lift and carry up to 40 pounds, and be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather if necessary
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people, including wildlife sanctuary neighbors, private landowners, partners, and volunteers
- Ability to relate to a diverse range of people and exercise cultural competence and inclusion
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent time management skills
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license and ability to carry out routine building maintenance and site security
- Carpentry skills, tractor experience, chainsaw training, First Aid, and valid Massachusetts pesticide applicator license preferred
Compensation, Benefits and Perks
This position’s pay range is $21.75-$22.75 per hour; actual rate of pay will reflect level of experience and qualifications relative to position requirements. This is a year-round position and earns vacation time as well as receives paid holidays.
Work Schedule
19 hours per week; exact hours will vary on days between Sunday through Thursday, 8:00am-4:00pm
Other Requirements
Employees must successfully complete a CORI and SORI Background Check and a Motor Vehicle Record (if applicable) is required.
